    Hi All,

Just picked a cherry '98 VFR800 with only 7800 miles in her. Came with Heli Bars, Givi windscreen, Corbin seat (w/ trunk), Ohlin rear shock, Micron slip-on, Powercommander and an autocom unit....Boy is she FUN to ride. I only have my learners permit now, but in Oct I'm taking the MHS course.

Next step is to dial in the suspension for my weight (previous owner was a little above 210, I'm around 165)...any and all advice is appreciated

I'm out here in San Jose CA - look forward to hearing from y'all

Welcome to the group. I have a 93 so you are a little more modern than me, but I, like reg, would not mind having that shock. But then again I am light enough that the stock suspension works for me. hehehe

:welcome: to the the 5th generation club, the best VFR ever made in my opinion. Sounds like you got a steal with all those extras and low miles. I bought a 99 bone stock and believe me, those extras cost a lot of money...

P.S. I think I read somewhere that a new VFR rider shouldn't ride a bike with a Ohlin shock, so being the nice guy that I am  we could do a little trade for my stock shock. :eyebrows: :heh: :pound:

But on a serious note, the front suspension is real easy to dial in, depends what kind of riding you do, mine is almost set to the firmest position available because of my aggressive style in the twistys. You live by my favorite HWY in the world, there is nothing better than going up or down the coast on HWY 1 in the summer time. The great thing about a bike is, if you feel like going down to Big Sur for lunch, you actually look forward to ride getting there. Enjoy and welcome to the board...

Welcome . I have a 99 VFR with M4 slipon, Givi windscreen, Heli bars, and I love it . I have had it for 11 months and have racked up 9,000 miles of smilles.

Remember to always do a pre ride inspection (takes 5 minutes) check the chain, oil, tires " air pressure...Dont forget to check the blinker fluid..LOL

    Thanks Y'all!

Advice is appreciated. I'm going to focus on dialing in the suspension soon - I've only got 500 miles on her so far.

This weekend is oil & filter change, and swap out new spark plugs....I also agree that 5 minute inspection is not a bad idea...I do it with my MTN bikes...probably more important on my VFR
