    Hey All,
Just traded in my 06 cbr600rr for a 07 Vfr800. So far, I love the bike! 10x more comfortable than the cbr. I'll be doingsome browsing on here to see what you all have done to your bikes to make them "your own". Anything I should know for being a new vfr owner (besides valve adjustments being expensive :))?

First off, Welcome to the WORLD. Don't forget to post up some pics of the new ride, else there are those here who might consider you a, shhhhhhh, a spy from the motorcycle otherworld. LOL You know, those who ride other bikes and have yet to discover the vast and wonderful world that comes with ownership of the mighty VFR. Not that we are at all partial, Noooooo, not that.

The only thing I can offer up as suggestion as to what to keep an eye on. There are some who consider the rear suspension to be a bit soft, and if this is the case, you might consider an upgrade of the rear shock assembly. The other thing you might want to consider purchasing would be a Sergent seat, since now that you have discovered how comfy the VFR is, you will be tempted to probe the limits of its comfort by going for much longer rides, EPIC rides, like 500 miles in a day epic. LOL

Enjoy the bike. We know you WILL.

    Welcome to the MadHouse :welcome:

As for customising a 6th gen there is a huge range of mods which can make a great bike, truly yours. One of the easiest/and most worthwhile is to invest in a Vista throttle lock. It will save your throttle arm feeling like a weightlifter on the super long trips owning a VFR makes possible.

    Take care

    Nice pics and welcome aboard.

A few suggestions (and only suggestions)

    Seat/custom Seatwork
New cans - take those stocker off and let her breath! (Plus you'll shed a few pounds).
Power Commander - I don't have a 6th gen with the Vtec engagement, but some guys say the PC helps smooth it out
Suspension - Especially if you're a beefier guy
Tires - Not sure what type you have or how old, but if necessary, a new set of rubber can really help the way she handles.

Seat: Ya, I'll be looking at a Sargent...any others I should be looking at??
Mufflers: The bike seems like it's pretty throaty right now. Like someone has done something with the exhaust. The stock pipes look untouched, so I'm not quite sure on this one yet.
Power commander: It has a PCIII on board already. The dealer didn't even know it had it. When I got back from my test ride, I found it under the seat when I was looking things over. I have never messed with a PC before, so I'm not exactly sure whats it's "doing" at the moment.
Suspension: Stock, so far so good...We'll see
Tires: Brand new Pilot Road 3's.

Only seats I know about are Corbin, Sargent and a custom tailored one. You can ask the dealer or a local used bike shop who they use to repair their seats. As our member Tinkerin says, you don't see dealers selling bikes with ripped seats. I have a Corbin and it fits me just fine.

Its possible the previous owner gutted the exhaust and riveted or welded it back.

PC - Nothing wrong with a PC3. You can download generic maps from the dynojet site, but if you have the cash, get a custom map from your local speed shop.

People speak highly of the PR3s. You should be in good shape with those.

Welcome and nice bike!! Mine is the same!! You got the fastest color ever made!! :vtr2:

My personal experience with Corbin wasn't good. It wouldn't latch properly and kept coming off the bike while riding. They finally agreed to give me a refund and I got a Sargent. Some have gotten the Corbin to fit properly by filing down the grommets, but I figure if I'm spending that kinda money it better fit outta the box. Sargent uses the stock seat pan, so it fits perfectly.

PCIII. You could always remove it and see the difference. That was the first or second mod I did. Without it, the vTec causes the bike to be quite choppy, especially at low speeds. To me, it's a completely different bike with the PCIII in it, even with the stock map. But I did get mine custom mapped at a shop here and that made it even better!!

Good luck, you will enjoy riding her. I consider her the best "all-around" bike. She can't go as fast as a CBR1000, but she can go the distance alot more comfortably and can handle the twisties just as well, if not better.

You will find all kinds of good info here, and good people to help fill in the blanks as well as make you laugh! Enjoy the bike and this forum!

It does feel a bit choppy or "hesitant" at low rpm's when accelerating slowly...

    Still fairly new

Welcome! I am a fairly new VFR owner. I brought a 2000 Honda VFR 800 (5th gen) in February. All I can say is I LOVE Sunshine. I am still getting to know her. I previously had a Kawasaki Ninja 250. I did have my seat done. Kept the frame but had memory foam added and had VFR embroidered.

Look, everyone knows yellow is the fastest color. (Nice touch on the seat, too, Jacki). Silver is an awesome color....on a Goldwing.
