    Hi,

I have recently purchased a 96 VFR and love the bike. I am going to replace the rear tire soon and need advice. How easy is it to go from a 170 to a 180? Are there any adjustments I need to make or any issues with doing this. I have read articles that say handling improved, and articles that say it didn't help much.
Any help would be appreciated, along with suggestions on what type of tire to get. I do mostly city riding with the occasional trip to Deals Gap or the hills of West Virginia/Southern Ohio but not enough to justify high performance tires.

    Thanks guys.

    Welcome.

It's been a while since I wrote off my 4th gen, I can't remember what size the rear wheel is. It's probably best that you stick with the reccomended size, there should be a sticker on the rear swingarm with the relevant info.

As to the type of tyre, everyone has their own preferences. From the reports I've seen so far the new Michelin Pilot Road 2 is supposed to be very good.

Hey daggett160, congrats on joining the vfr club. I would not reccomend going with a different tyre than stated by Honda. I have Michelin Pilot Powers on my 93 vfr and love them, however, they are a little more aggresive in terms of soft compound (meaning they will wear out quicker). My dad has a 99 vfr with Dunlops on which are a great tyre but are not as soft. Good luck!

Welcoem to thte group daggett. As for tire brands, its personal preference, but for me it is either the new Dunlop Qualifiers (got 6500 miles out of the rear before replacing) or the Michelin Pilot Powers. Regarding tire size (170 vs. 180) I would stick with the 170. If I remember right, the 180, while having more tread width to use, will make the turn in a little slower, but I am not for sure.
