New VFR owner/ member saying Hello

Hi All,

Just picked up a 2000 VFR a week ago, and found this forum so I thought I would say hello. If anyone is up for a ride this weekend around the Rockland/Orange County NY area let me know. I live right by the Tappan Zee bridge on the Rockland side.

I found Skyline Drive off I-87 and Rt. 17 in Sloatsburg (2 pretty awesome roads), I would love to find some more.

Buddy of mine showed me a pretty cool trick at Bear Mountain, ride to the top, turn around, put her in neutral and shut the engine off, coast down to the bottom, all you hear is the "whoosh" of the trees. (Don't recommend this when it is crowded).

Welcome to the site. I live in Mahwah and frequent to Bear Mt and back roads in Ringwood. There are exceptionally good vfr owners around here. Hope to ride together soon.

CaptnMarc - Welcome aboard. There's a few of us that get together every now and again. What's your deal for tomorrow? Dino (from Middlesex, NJ) and I were thinking about taking a ride. Realize its getting kind of late in the day today, but maybe we can work something out.

Also, keep an eye out for other thread topics for the Northeast. Some of them may be titled about PA or the Poconos, but we still may be in Jersey or NY and just discussing our ride in those threads.

 

Welcome Cappy. There are a few out your way. I can imagine there is some real nice riding out your way. Someday maybe I will make it out that way. But that is a huge maybe.

 

Cheers thanks for the warm welcome. ontargetnow and I were going to do the Hawk's Nest, (he was nice enough to invite me out today), but wifey (aka "The Admiral") is very pregnant (like beached whale pregnant), so I am grounded waiting for the "Honey, its time to go, NOW" from her, which could happen any minute now.

Would enjoy hooking up with you guys anytime though, thanks again. Today looks like the best day in weeks for a ride.

I guess I should introduce myself as well, just bought a 2000 VFR 800 today, should be quite a change from the Daytona 1200 I was riding..
