New VFR Owner - Intro Thread

Hey all, just figured I'd post a little intro here.

Just picked up an 04 VFR 800 today. The guy said he had no idea about ABS and said he guesses it doesn't have it since the guy he bought it from didn't say anything about it, however I hammered my rear brake today as in literally damn near standing on it and I went from 30mph->0mph so fast and smooth it was pretty nuts, I'm fairly certain it has ABS now so I'm going to try to identify it for sure tomorrow.

Anyway like I said, it's a 2004 - has 5.8k miles on it when I picked it up. Got her for 4900, clean title, 2 owner. Pretty much mint condition aside from a couple marks on the right engine case from the previous owner almost dropping it but he said he caught it and just had to gently let it down. Either way its not very noticeable.

    Bike runs and rides beautifully.

I bought the bike for a street duty bike. I decided my old bike just wasn't fitting me anymore, I had a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R I sold last sunday. Then tuesday I went and bought a 2000 Suzuki DRZ400S to hooligan around on and then today bought the VFR. Rode it about 300 miles today and I love it, I'm so comfortable and it rides so smooth and the power is perfect. Not too much not to little, I won't be doing any 150mph+ speed runs like I did on the ZX10r but that's not what I bought it for.

Either way I love the bike and I'm happy to be a part of the site.

Only plans for the bike is if its in the budget, a set of Pilot Power CT2's - doesn't really need them yet but I love them, a tank pad, maybe trade someone my micron exhaust for a stock exhaust and some cash, and perhaps powdercoat the wheels black. Time will tell.

    Welcome! Kudo's for posting pics!

If your unsure about ABS, there is an ABS warning light right next to high beam indicator on the right side digital display. The light will come on during the starting cycle then go out after bike reaches 6 mph.
ABS models also have a hydraulic pre-load adjuster for the rear shock. There would be a large black knob next to the right rear passenger foot-peg bracket.
