They have updated the site again, but with only a bunch of teaser info, nothing really new; EVERYTHING is 'Coming Soon'...

Yeah, I entered the contest when the site first went live. Says you gotta go to Europe... Always wanted to visit Europe, to ride the new Viffer would be a great excuse.

 I am completely confused by your comment? In what context do you think I'm trading anything?

I know you don't mean traitor, because someone as highly educated as you (I thought I read somewhere on here you have two degrees!) would not confuse the word trader for traitor.

If you did mean traitor, in what context was that meant? Surely not to my country, I think my family's service to this country rules that out... To my Viffer? I said I'd go ride one, not buy one.

If you meant trader, I'm at a complete loss as to your meaning, sorry.

In the "Design" section, there is a second video, I don't know if it's been there since the new site went up, I missed it if so; but, it's got a Honda Engineer (I presume) speaking Japanese, talking about the bike, with sub-titles. My favorite part is when he says "So go try it yourself..." Like we can.

Well, I'm looking to buy a pure sport tourer next summer; right now we are settled on the Kawasaki Councours 14 (Connie). However, I'm not a Kawasaki fan, and would prefer to stay with a V4, so I'm really hoping this new Honda 'thing' is a competitor for the Connie.

Either way, I'm NOT going to replace my Viffer, I'm keeping it for the duration; it's nostalgia to me, so for sentimental reasons, I'll always have my RWB 25th Ann. Ed.

There is a new section on the site; on the left hand side, lower box: V4 engine. A new video, under the title "The V4 story".

28 degree V to the new engine?
(Much lighter and almost as thin as a v-twin? That I like.)

    Unicam?

    TBW (Throttle By Wire)?

Interesting vid. The 28 degrees refers to the crank not the angle between the cylinder banks. As thin as a vtwin in the rear I think he meant.

It looks like they cut out the 5th cylinder from the rc211 and kept the rest of the layout?

Looks like you're right on the TBW, at least on the touring model.

    All cool stuff...

In the section on the site; on the left hand side, lower box: V4 engine. A new "sound clip 1" of the new engine... Can even be downloaded as an MP3 or WAV file.

Center pane, upper left 'window' titled "Technology", center pop-up called "Chassis"; new video called "The Riding Experience".

    Interesting video.

Just been through the European VFR1200F site and I have to say I'm disappointed. Although there is much brilliance here, I guess it's just not what I was expecting or what I would want to replace my VFR800.

    My 2 pennies worth

    Good
    • Still a V4
    • Shaft drive
    • 166 BHP ain't bad
    • Low saddle
    • Good pillion seat
    • TBW
    • 90% of max torque at 4000 RPM is awesome
    • Dual skin fairing routes hot air away from riders.

    Bad
    • Single headlight (that alone would stop me buying it)
    • Side silencer/muffler. I just love the underseat ones on my 800 :)
    • Heavy - 267Kg!!
    • Shite fuel consumption (44mpg on a rolling road)
    • Available colours (in Europe: white, silver, dark burgundy)

Having said all that, this apparently is the first of several new machines that will use the same motor and other technology - so we'll have to wait & see what else they pull out of the bag. At a guess, I'd say this one was aimed squarely at taking market share back from BMW.

Completely forgot about he auto transmission. You can ride it in full auto, paddle control up/down or full manual. I'd be very happy with it in full auto in London traffic :)

That was my very first thought when we saw the sneak peak leaked photo's months ago. I don't like the cyclops look at all...
