Hey all, 25 year old from Ottawa Ontario Canada. Second forum (first was klrs a few years ago) but since then I came to be the owner of a 1985 Interceptor 750 I got from a family friend. Seing how its been years since shes seen pavement shes going to need a little tlc and elbow grease to bring her back to life. Ive got the repair manual and what other better tool than an internet forum. Im looking forward to interacting and possibly meeting up with some people for a ride once I get the bike going. So about the bike. Its a 1985 interceptor VF750 with 14,000kms. It hasn't been driven in years and the previous owner informed that the engine was starting to make a ticking noise from the top end. Well I brought the bike home and stored(put it in the barn) for a few more years and this year I've decided to see what it would take to get it on the road running well. Over and above the basics (fuel, air, plugs, oil, tires, susp and carb clean) I really want to make sure I resolve the cam oiling issue. I had the valve covers off tonight for the first time and there is signs of oil starvation on the inner/top most cam lobes of both banks (3 of 8). Before I invest a lot of money into maintenace items listed earlier I'm looking for some guidance with the oiling issue. Over the years I've read a little but it would appear that there is a wealth of knowledge here with you folks. Other than the maint items, rusted fuel tank and the cam issue the bike is in great shape and I would love to get it out on the road. I got the bike for basically nothing and am willing to invest some $$$ but dont want to sink too much when I may be better to wait a few more years and pick of 2005/2009 vfr. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Williamc
Welome to the world. best of luck on the build. The top end chatter is not unussual to the early Honda V4's after a while. Had the same issue on my 82 Magna.
