    Hey Folks,

Been riding Guzzi cruisers most recently, but since selling the last one I had put the VFR on my short list. That list included the Bandit 1250, DL1000, and Honda 919. I had my doubts about the VFR becuase I wasn't sure if the ergos would accomodate my oldish skelton. Yesterday I took myself to an area dealer who has a crispy one owner red '04 VFR ABS with 3400 miles on the clock. He took me on a guided test ride on the BRP and some of I-40. All I can say is WOW! The bike had the most confidence inspiring feel/ride I've ever experienced. Now I love the Guzzis and they really corner well, but the VFR was something else and I really liked the fit. I plan to go back and secure a deal on the bike Tuesday but I looking for any feed back that I should be aware of for the "04's, that need to be part of the equation? I am aware of the wiring harness recall issue and I've been told that was addressed by the PO. Anything else? TIA for any advice or info you might want to share. Hope to be on two wheels again SOON!

    Regards,

    Ned

Hello and welcome to da brothahood mi amigo! Sounds like you caught the VFR fever! The wiring harness recall "should" have been performed by now. I believe that the dealer makes a punch mark in the VIN sticker once this is performed....or if you are still unsure, you can call up Honda with the VIN and doublecheck.

VFR's are great bikes, and they don't need much....however, your ass will thank you if you buy an aftermarket Sargent saddle for your girl. Quite a few folks put on an aftermarket slip-on and a Dynojet PowerCommander Three, but that is to each his own. The R/R issues are pretty much gone on the 6th gen, so you should be good to go!

Be sure do let us know if you get it and update with pics.

Sorry I missed your post Ned.

Make sure you bring along three things when you go to pick up that '04 VFR800.

    A bag of cash,a hammer,and a chisel.

The bag of cash is to pay for the bike.

The hammer and chisel are to help you wipe off the Sh#t eating grin that will be permanently affixed to your face from riding your new VFR.

Congrats on scoring yourself an ABS equipped model Ned.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride!

I second the Sargent seat. It's the best money I have ever spent on my bike, period.

I can ride for 5 hours, get off the bike and no monkey butt to deal with. I was ready to go more!

    Oh, and welcome!

the VTEC bugs some people but if you rode it and it didn't seem to bother you then I wouldn't sweat it...

    Howdy Ned,

You'll have a lot of fun for $3400.
I rode cruisers till I was in my 40s, then found out what I had been missing.
    Welcome, neighbor.

Welcome for sure Ned. FYI. Mine is an 06. I have personally put over 54,000 miles on the stock seat without ay problem. Each to their own I guess on the seat. But whether it is stock, Corbin or Sergent, you will love the bike. I have no idea what that VTEC thingy is Reggie is talking about.
