Hi everyone. Just picked up a red 2004 VFR800, with the factory hard bags. Have done about 200 miles in the saddle so far. What a nice bike! It's a big upgrade from my previous bike, an 06 Honda 599. I look forward to speaking with many of you on the threads and enjoying my new bike. Ride safe.
Congrats and welcome. Quite a few new VFR brothers today! What are your thoughts on the bike so far? Whereabouts you at?
Thanks. I really like the bike. Very comfortable and hides it's weight well. I love how stable and smooth it is on the freeways. Lots of wind protection. The bike is bone stock for now. I'm located in the SF bay area, in Livermore, CA.
I haven't had the privilege of riding a 6th gen like yours, however, I do love my 5th gen. You have several VFRWorld members not that far from you. My bike came with Givi saddlebags, and a two brothers highmount, and so far I have added a Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen, an aftermarket aluminum chainguard, and a 12volt outlet. Heated grips are coming soon though. Probably very soon before fall hits and it cools down. Keep the rubber side down!
My bike came with the factory hard saddle bags. Currently not mounted on bike. Can't wait to see how much I can get in them. I was thinking about adding a zero gravity double bubble screen, heated grips and a power outlet. I had heated grips, and a power outlet on my other bike, they were nice during the colder months. Maybe add some exhaust at some point, but I do like the look of the stock pipes.
IMO, aftermarket pipes look 100 times better than the stockers on the 6th gen, and save a bunch of weight (as with any aftermarket exhaust).
Jason, The Staintune pipes look pretty sweet and sound nice too. Some of the other companies pipes sound good, but don't look that great under the tail of a 6th gen. Ride safe. Ian
However, I do applaud you for being considerate and having quiet stock pipes. If you do get aftermarket, just be considerate of the noise level that you get. You want your baby to look ever better, but not shake the hornets nest (as in, piss off people). My two brothers is still pretty quiet. If you search some threads on this site, you will find just about any exhaust you can think of mounted on your bike.
I do know what you mean. My last bike was a 2006 Honda 599 (Hornet). I had a mircon exhaust on it, that was quite loud. Main thing I like about the loud pipe, is that if people don't see you, they hear you. But it can wear you out on long freeway rides. But for now, it will stay stock.
Yeah, I love the nice throaty sound of an aftermarket, with a little more noise, however, all these clowns with straight pipes (and race duplex pipes) are causing some towns to come up with noise ordinances (see other quiet thread). I like a pipe that you can cruise thru town without everybody knowing you are coming a block away. Good for not alerting LEO's you are on your way as well.
I agree. Noise is nice, to a point. There are always those who don't care about anything or anyone, and do what they want. They seem to ruin it for everyone else.
