Hello all. :ninja: I recently bought a new 2007 VFR. It is currently all stock. I was wondering what kind of modifications I could make to make it run faster, and more comfortable, while staying on a pretty tight budget. For example I saw the old thread about the foot peg lowering. Using the Buell pegs. Will that work on a Gen 6. Has anyone made their own handle bar spacers? Also if I put on the Buell pegs, and turned the triangle would that make the bike too low.
I have seen some people have listed that they added an O2 sensor bypass. What does that do? I also saw some modifications about a snorkel and flappers. What are those for? Sorry, I'm a bit green. I am handy though. I can do most of my own repairs on my vehicles. I just don't know what some of these mods will do.
I work in metal shop, so I have some access to metal, and limited free access to some of the machines.
If I want something machined I would have to pay for it.
I have already designed my own fender eliminator kit for about $2, using a piece of scrap aluminum. I still have to install it though.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

    gutted exhaust.

I have seen that some guys have gutted their exhaust. Has anyone put the bike on the Dyno before and after to see if it affected the performance in any way, good or bad. I would think that it would mess with the back pressure. Am I wrong?

Gutting the stock muffler really just gives you a different noise. It does not really do anything for power....although your mind might think otherwise. The since the FI is an open loop system can compensate for the reduced restriction in probably 10 or so miles. If you put on larger header tubes and removed the cat and put an aftermarket exhaust on...then you would need your bike (would need a PC) remapped in order to get it to run decent and to make more power and fully benefit for the reduced restrictions. Anytime you make major changes to improve exhaust flow it is best to remap (and dyno) for the absolute best improvement and performance. If you improve flow too much without remapping, you run the risk of running way too lean and burning a hole in your piston in extreme cases.

Other mods. Sargent seat seems to be the preferred aftermarket seat. They are great. Quite a few folks have a PC and aftermarket mapping. Zero gravity double bubble makes a nice improvement for windblast over stock. Leo Vince, Micron, Two Brother's, and Staintune are popular aftermarket exhausts.

Hello and welcome by the way. There is an intro section on here as well.

gutting the exhust wont effect anything other then sound due to the kitty cat on header ( that is all your back pressure ) but it does sound sweet when gutted.

I'm also a bitter green and am wondering what they do and if it's worth doing, so some more info on the snorkel and flappers would be great to see.
