Keep your eyes on your 8 spoke rear wheel or some day your friend Joey might decide, hmmmmmm, that wheel might look better on my bike. Wish I had one of those myself. LOL

Welcome to the forum and keep the pics of the restoration coming.

PS. Glad Joey found a solo seat cowl for his bike. Not sure if Joey has decided what color to paint his bike yet or if he was going to keep the stock color, but there is a guy who lives near me that painted his 6th Gen the same pearl orange that they use on the Lamborghini Murcielago and man does it look nice. Just a thought.

I won't say enjoy the bikes, cause I am sure you will.

Very nice!!!!!!! Looks pretty good. What's the story on it? Check the fuses first, then dive into the carbs, tank and fuel pump/filter. Get those clean and i garauntee you'll have a runner.

Good luck with the bodywork, hope you have those other body parts hidden somewhere cause if not, they aren't easy to find.

Keep it white!!!! Here, I'll give you some motivation (I like showing off)

Man that white looks GOOD!. I have a thing for red on a Honda. My Si is Rallye Red and I may add a wide band of the same to the bike. But I do want to stay mostly white.

Funny you mentioned the wheels. We had that convo earlier today already. Lol

Tank cleaned out, intake removed, tomorrow I'll pull the carbs. Not bad for a long lunch hour...

Also took off the tank bra and it's REALLY yellowed underneath... going to get all over paint for sure eventually. Sketch done. Time to make copies and start coloring!

Uh oH, #1 no no is never remove the plate from the V4 carbs. Remove carbs from engine as a group and keep them together on the plate. It gets really hard to tune and get everything back together when you remove the plate and seperate the carbs. I wish you the best of luck. There are a lot of topics here in regards to carb cleaning and such for the VFR. Study up.

I'm not saying you MUST do it one way or another. I'm just giving you a heads up, you made a PIA job much more PI the Assy.

Actually, after re-looking at your pic you are still safe if you choose to replace the plate and pull the carbs off together as a group. Sorry for speaking to soon. Either way, have fun. Look into some new rubber insulators for re-installing them or use a lot of grease to slide them back on.

Re-install the plate along with the velocity stacks before you take them carbs off, its fact...

actually v-four carbs are fairly quick to take on and off, (if you get rid of the pair system) the synchronizing can be challenging if you cant get the bike in the air high enough...Light is good here as well as a specialty carb tool...any-whooo00000))))) welcome aboard

Cool. I like forward to seeing what you come up with. I still miss the 4th gen I had and to this day think it was one of the best bikes I ever owned. I had and still do have an 85 VF1000F (it currently resides at my best friends house and is his summer toy), and have also owned a 91 VFR750F and a 97 VFR and the current one is a 2000 VFR. Though the 2000 is a great machine in all respects, I do admit I think I almost prefer the lines of the 97.

    All the best

Got the intake plate back on, no issues there. Now the carbs are off and I see why you don't want to separate!

I pulled the first bowl cover and besides a layer of gummy old gas, it looks good. The butterflies were stuck shut, but a few blasts of carb cleaner and they are back to normal.

I feel really good about this!!!

Next is to clean the carbs and jets, oil and coolant change, then plugs and battery and then tackle the sloppy clutch lever.

No new pics right now, but carbs are cleaned and back together. Going to head to the shop in a bit to reinstall. Fingers crossed that they slip back in neatly.

Getting them off always seemed harder than getting them on. Give the boots some lube and they should slip on pretty easy.

In regards to your clutch, if you decide to rebuild the slave m/c (on the other end of the clutch line, not by the lever), rebuild kits are cheap but be sure you clean out the slave cyliner really good. Any little grit in there will cause it to leak. Ask how I know. Also, when you bleed that line, be sure you get the air out of the joint by the reservior (lever side). Otherwise you'll be bleeding it forever and never get it to flow.

Good luck. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Carbs went back in within about 4 minutes. Just had ti use a hook tool to make sure the rims were clear. Nice solid clunk into place!

If she's going to run easily, it's going ti be tomorrow.
