My name is Maria, I am new to the forum, but not new to Hondas. I recently purchased a 2009 VFR 800 Intrerceptor. This is my 3rd Honda. My previous bikes were CBR 600 F3 and CBR 600 F4i. I am looking to learn tons of things about my bike on here. I am currently looking on how to lower it, can anyone help?

Hi & Welcome to the VFRworld!

There are several threads on the forum for ways to lower the 6th Gen vfr800. If you do a search (probably best done with the "advanced search" option) you will find them. Good luck, and good riding!

Hello and welcome Maria. I had a V45 Sabre many moons ago and now have my 2000. This site is a great resource and I am sure you will find your stay valuable.

A few of us are a bit sarcastic and snippy from time to time, but it's usually in good fun. When it's not, we'll dog pile on whoever is being a douche (as buddies always do) and make sure we all remember that VFR'S RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :chaingun:

Since no one said it yet ..... :worthless:

Welcome to the zoo Maria. I know a lady who owned both an F3 and an F4i, still has the F4i and uses it for track days. Kindly do post pics of your bike, and it looks like you already have a link to help for your lowering question(s).

Click on reply, then click on advance, then scroll down to manage attachments & click, from there you should be able to do it on your own.

Not only do you have a nice bike, you have honor too! Kudos on posting the pictures. Did the Lowering link help you get ideas? One thing to stay away from is the adjustable link versions. One member had the link "blow apart" while she was riding on the freeway! She made it out OK but it could have gone a lot worse. The triagle plate method seem to be where most people are having their bikes lowered. Good luck and ride safe.

Thank you. It is a little scratched up right now. That is Scubalong's fault though. And the paint and decals are brand new too.:hurt::faint:

Thank you very much....I have had her for a couple of weeks now, still has the 30 day tags on her...LOL...The only thing I'm not used to is having factory pipes...Not liking not having the noise I was used to with the other bikes. Anyone have any suggestions for pipes or slip ons, preferably cost efficient. I have toyed around with the idea of opening up the pipes and removing the baffles and having a welder put it back together..good or bad idea? As far as lowering it, I may ust end up taking it and having it done.. But I am very thankful for the links and tips...Ride free.....

I bought my 09 used and it came with Two Bros slip ons and they sound awesome, but they are pricey! Cost wise, de-baffling is the cheapest, but check on eBay for other options. Also check the classified section on the forum, you never know one of the members here might have something for sale.

    Cheers

Congratulations Maria and Welcome from The Frozen Wastelands. :welcome:

I have a used pair of 35mm Thurn Motorsport lowering triangles and a shortened side stand collecting dust on my parts shelf.
These parts came off my '03 and will bolt directly onto your '08. These parts are basically everything you'll need to lower your bike.

If you can use them you can have them, all I ask is that you pay for the shipping. PM me if you're interested.

I have to say that lowering the bike will get you instant gratification as far as ride height, but will do nothing for instilling confidence in the suspension/handling. Taking it to a suspension expert and have them lower it and also changing valving/springs (if even needed) to adjust for the changes lowering will make the bike handle. It will cost more money than you want- but the reward of confidence inspiring handling will be worth it. If no parts need to be changed, good- but they should adjust the suspension settings to you.

    Also, welcome to the 'world!
