I thought I would take the time to say hi as I will soon be a new proud owner of an 04 VFR. I sold my only bike today in order to get the last of the cash needed to go pick her up. I'm going to have a lovely 250 mile ride to get acquainted with her on the way home. I have already sent him the deposit to hold the bike and have cash in hand to bring her home. Luckily enough, my motorcycle lift should come in the same day she comes home, so she will have a special spot to sit high above the rest of the toys and have a thorough going over.

Hopefully someone can give me some buying advice when going to pick it up. I'm quite sure that the bike is in tip top shape from talking to the guy on the phone several times. However VFR's are new to me and I'm sure many of you will know something to look for other than the usual items that aren't bike specific.

For the record, here are some pics and the CL posting. Bike is bone stock minus the grab handles and a new K&N air filter.

The usual pre-ride check list, including the 1.25" slack in chain movement (pictured on the chain guard).
Should have a full tool kit (heard the later models do not) with special spanners for rear shock adjs (non-abs). and drive chain tension.
    Nice lookin'! Welcome!

Make sure your recalls have been done. Especially the electrical one.

Thanks for the information on the recalls. I had heard that there were a couple out there but hadn't tracked them down yet. I just called my local dealership with the VIN number and they confirmed that the electrical recall has been completed but the one for the proportioning control valve has not so I guess I will have to get that done sometime when I get back.

Hopefully he will have everything ready to go with tire pressure, fluids, chain slack, etc. and I won't have to worry about it but I will be sure to check it.

Looks like I have found a great place for information and good people to talk to here on the forums.

Cool, a celebrity on VFRW. I always thought of you as a HArley type.
    Welcome aboard.

Thanks guys. The flat black is growing on me but I was really wanting to get an 07 tricolor... funding just wasn't there to do it though.

I talked to the owner and not only has the Slick50 fitting been changed recently but he also changed the headlight fluid and had the skyhooks replaced, so I think I'm good to go.
