I got a new Shoei RF1000 helmet. My only other helmet is an RF1000, but it fits perfectly and is completely turbulent free on the bike. I can ride ten hours and not even notice the helmet. But I wanted a color that would go better with my red '07 rather than the silver helmet I was wearing, and I needed a second helmet for some two-up riding I am doing. Here are a couple of picutres of the helmet I got and the bike, in case any other red '07 users are interested. (I was thinking of getting the solid wine red Shoei, but I went with the Breakthrough design. I very pleased with the decision.

The Shoei RF1000 is a good helmet, and it fits me perfectly. I don't know how it compares to other helmets as far as noise goes and it does tend to fog up some (though I just crack the vent), but I find that I experience no wind turbulence on my helmet. And on long trips that is important.

I wanted to post some pictures of it with the bike because it is nice to see ahead of time what it looks like with a particular bike, I think It looks pretty nice with the red '07.

I guess you get what you pay for....
I rode all last year with a cheap HJC lid and the wind noise drove me batty!!
Riding on the freeway for more than 1/2 hour was torture without ear plugs.
Oh well....time to go helmet shopping!

Love the Helmet and the bike. Looks Sharp. I've got the Yellow Shoei RF1000 and it's so much better than the cheap helmet I had before. Unlike the previous helmet I had, I don't get near as much wind noise or "lifting" from the wind.
Like Powerslave above stated, you get what you pay for.

Buying a helmet is tough because it seems you have to wear it a bit to determine if it is right for you, but they are not cheap!

One thing I noticed with the new helmet was that it was snug. It is the same size as my old one, and the old one fits well, but the new was snug. In fact, I wonder if it weren't for the fact that the new helmet is the same size as the old one if I would have gone up a size. But even after just a few moderate rides it feels great, and though it is still a tighter fit than my old one, it is the right size. I am sure it will loosen up a bit, but I made a mental note to always buy the helmet on the snug side.

One thing about a snug helmet is that if it does not fit your head well, then you will notice it right away. The Shoei fits the my head (especially the top) perfectly so even when the helmet is pretty tight there are no pain points at all. That might be a way to determine if a particular helmet is a good match for you.
