I've been using a Shark Vision R helmet for the past 4 years, and after my recent PI trip I decided to upgrade.
The last leg of our trip was 1100km in one day, and I must admit that after it, I was tired of the noise and buffeting.
I wear ear plugs in all my rides, wind noise is the biggest culprit of hearing loss for all motorcyclists, and I've already lost enough after over 40 years of riding.
Because I already own a Sharktooth system, I was keen on staying with the brand, so that's where I started looking.
I did try a few Shoei helmets, and also Arai as this was my helmet of choice for most of my riding life.
Price difference is huge for some of them, and unfortunately, the ones I liked for fit and looks were all the top of the range ($$$$).
The Spartan carbon first got me with the weight, it feels so light and well balanced.
The one I got (red on carbon) also matches my bike.

I've only done 250km on the new helmet, but I can say I am more then pleased.

(I never miss an opportunity to post a picture of myself :)

The noise level is a lot better, in fact it's one of the selling points, the new Shark skin sides. It works.
The weight is so much better in real life as opposed to the actual difference, only 200gm lighter, but it feels like a lot more.
But the biggest difference is buffeting, or the lack off.
It doesn't move around any where near as much, and the overall effect is a quieter, more stable lighter helmet that doesn't tire you out.
The fit on my head is comfortable and tight without any pressure points. The interior lining feels good and looks like it's high quality.
The Sharktooth fits in hidden away without anything sticking out.
Like all helmets, it might not suit all riders, I myself have never been able to use an AGV, for me it's the worst shape helmet ever, it can't possibly be made for humans.
    It's a 9 out of 10 from me.

I'll give where I bought it from a plug, Chromeburner in the Netherlands, this is my second purchase from them and I can highly recomend them.
All prices in website include postage.
Might not be cheap to you US blokes, but it was AU$477 landed, as opposed to AU$650 here.

I'm in the market for a new helmet as mine has seen heavy winds, rain, low and high temperatures and lots of miles. It's a cheap scorpion exo 500, but it has been the most comfortable one I've ever used.
Will try a shark if I can find one here in the the land of lane splitting.
    Thanks for the report.

I really miss having a carbon fiber lid. What is the internal shape of this helmet? I'm more of a long oval. From the outside, this looks to be more of a neutral to round shape.

Lots of different color schemes available. No DOT certification tho. Not that that really matters, ECE is the required certification for MotoGP.

So Cycle Gear called me back to the inquiry I had on the Spartan, the word is they may bring it to the states May or June.

It'll need to pass DOT testing before it's brought into the states, I didn't see SNELL or DOT listed only ECE. Otherwise, online retailers (outside of the US) are your best bet. Not saying anyone of us would do this but you can always put one of them "DOT" stickers on it, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more and it's not like they check your helmet anyway. Not being able to try it on however, makes the purchase more troublesome if not more expensive.

Yah I saw that so are all the Motogp riders that use Shark helmets at risk or my thinking is if there good enough for the big boys there good enough for your average street rider seein we don't do near the speed they crash at.....
Bought my Lazer without trying it on using there sizing chart and worked out-- maybe that's not the norm

Here in Oz new laws were brought in recently, that allows European standards for helmets instead of the Oz only testing.
    About time.

ECE standards might be OK for MotoGP or the helmet the riders wear could be made specifically for racing, however in the states the standard test is DOT. Sometimes a helmet takes a while to get through testing. The Schuberth SR1 was released in Europe but took a few months before they started selling them here, it took a while for it to get through the DOT testing process and then for Schuberth to stock the shelves.

FWIW, the LS2 Arrow helmet sold to the public is actually the same helmet as worn by the MotoGP riders, just different graphics, according to their website.

Good to know. I'm sure the ECE standard is fine and that the US just wants their DOT standard used here.
