Hi there, I've just registered on VFRw and don't know why I didn't find it sooner in my life. About me: I found a not-very-used 1997 in '05, put about 24K miles on it and traded it last summer for a practically-new (389 miles!!) 2006. Why did I switch one may ask? I just wanted a "change" but wanted a bike with all the features of the VFR. So, of course...ended up with a newer VFR. Big change, huh! Sorry for the ensuing non-techie question, but here goes anyway: I just had new tires put on this weekend + oil change. The first time I rode the bike the front end seemed 'loose'; almost felt like something was bottoming out when I hit small bumps. Called the shop, he said didn't sound like anything they would have impacted when changing the tires. Mentioned it to hubby and he said maybe one of the many (many!) pieces of plastic bodywork were replaced with different tolerances or something similarly minor. This morning riding to work I felt the looseness again and realized I had no front brake. Then I realized, I did seem to have ABS but I wasn't laying on the brakes and road was fine, so, I'm not sure what activated them. Nervously puttered the last couple of blocks to my parking garage and the ABS light was blinking the whole way. What gives? Is this related to the [wheel removal from] tire change? Completely unrelated? Any help massively appreciated. I'm supposed to leave in one week for the other side of the country...
please give more details as to " it felt like you had no brakes " put bike on center stand and ck everything ( front tire bolts brkae caliper bolts and brake pads ) someone posted a while back the dearler forgot to tighten front caliper bolts and it fell off. I would check everything and bring back to dealer the light should not be on if you are driving on dry roads
followup - ABS question Turns out my problem was the same as that other poster you mentioned - front caliper bolts. One was missing, one was loose. The service guy felt awful; I told him I was just glad that (a) it was something small and simple, and (2) it was noticed & fixed before I was in Somewhere, U.S.A. next week.
