A friend of mine recently gave me an 85 750 (I think?) with a bad fuel pump. So of course, be being the idiot that I am, instead of just replacing the pump, the bike is now just short of a bare frame... But this is my first bike and I've never ridden a bike before. So I figured, why not restore the bike so I can learn to ride on a nice pretty bike, right? Solid logic. But anyways, I'm trying to figure out what all I should do while its apart. I'm probably going to jack the rear end up and do the oiling mod, I'm going to pull the heads and check everything out and see whats what. I'm a visual learner so pulling the bike apart will teach me how it all works and I'll be better equipped to start riding. Also its been sitting a long time and I know a lot can use replacing. However being a new motorcycle owner, I'm not a new mechanic. This is my 4th currently owned honda vehicle, and I've got a jeep too. By day I strip performance cars and fix the engines from wrecked cars so nuts and bolts aren't new to me, but this motorcycle is a completely different ball of wax but I'm getting there. Anyways, this is how I got it (has all parts removed in boxes) And how it sits currently The exhaust is rusted on and I didn't have a 12mm allen wrench to take the swingarm off. But the frame is ready to come off the motor. So any ideas, feel free to let me know. From paint scheme to parts, performance to reliability.
No ideas for you at the moment, but good luck and enjoy your project. Nice to see the 'ol girl getting some TLC.
Thanks bud, right now I'm stuck. I can't get the damn frame off the motor! Once I get that I'll start cleaning everything up and getting everything coated and the motor worked.
