Hi guys, I just bought a 97 VFR and so far I love it. Took a quick trip down the highway and Speedo was reading 115. Good bike so far.

Awwwwe, that so makes me wish I still had my 97 VFR. That is one really nice looking machine Havoc and you WILL love that bike I'm sure. Not that I am the least bit partial to the 4th gen, NAH, not at all. I love my 5th gen, but there is definitely a soft spot in my soul for my old 97. She went to a new owner just before my son was born, and I regretted selling it the moment the new owner left my driveway and I heard the exhaust note as he roared away up the street. Thankfully I still see the old bike around once in a while.

Live to ride, and ride to live, and don't forget to keep her shiny side up.

Ooooh Dude, if you can find an after-market exhaust can for that beast you will NOT regret it. My 97 sounded so much sweeter than my 2000 does. The 5th gen I have has a Delkevic 18" slip-on and it does sound really nice but my 97 had an M4 slip-on and the growl that thing made was literally to die for.

If you check with Delkevic USA they might still sell a link pipe and slip-on for that year bike. I know when I checked their online store, they did not list the pipe for my 2000 but when I phoned and checked with them directly they said they still carried one. It was online in their eBay store and I even got a slightly better price than online when I phoned them direct. Best $185 I ever spent. Even my wife agreed with me, so you know it had to be a good deal. LOL.

Oh, and not to mention it weighed about 15 pounds less than the stock exhaust and looked way better.

I did check out the delkevik website and they do have a bunch of cans for it. I'm saving up for one now.

If you like how it sounds now............ Honda VFR750, used maybe $3000, cost of an aftermarket slip-on maybe $200-$400, tickling feeling that runs up your spine as you rev the engine, PRICELESS.
