Greetings.. Just picked up my 02 VFR 800 a couple days ago. 27000 miles, new tires, basically new brakes, almost flawless (red) paint. Missing the windshield but it will be in this week and they are going to install for free as it was on order even before I bought the bike. Original windshield was cracked but I checked and the bike is not a rebuilt title - apparently the previous owner wiped out and it was helmet meets windscreen. Bike does have a power commander installed. I paid US$3985 ($3300 for my trade - a 2008 suzuki Boulevard C50 with 11k miles and $685 cash.) I know nothing about how to do anything on this bike. Could ya'll tell me where is the air filter located and how to access and replace it? I am a little disapointed with the bike's performance.. well sometimes. I've only been riding it for a couple days but it seems like the guts drop out of it at between 3 and 5000 rpms which cuts down on the fun factor. Normal? I'm adjusting the way I throttle and clutch though and that's maybe helping a bit. Interestingly I got on it to come to work today and it seemed a bit smoother between 3 and 5k rpms. I don't know if that's because of how I'm riding or because the bike is getting it's groove back after sitting on the lot. Between what speeds and rpms can I expect the bike to really shine? On the whole I am glad that I did the purchase, as the riding position and styling is as close to perfect for me as I was going to find, I just wish it was a bit faster. That might have to do with the fact that I took out a 1000cc Aprilia RSV Mille 1000 just before I got on the VFR though. (The Aprilia was too ugly and uncomfortable, but it was damn fast). Final question: When I put the key in the ignition the whole ignition setup presses in sometimes and rotates even before the key is pressed in completely. Normal? Thanks for your input and for being nice the the newb :sneakiness:.
Welcome! You will want the Honda shop manual... http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/...vice-manual-6th-gen-2002-vtec-with-bookmarks/ The air filter is located below the fuel tank and is easily accessible. You simply have to raise the tank, remove the top cover of the airbox.
The bike shines above 7000 RPMs.... It's a midsize four cylinder not a big twin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
:welcome: to the nuts house  Take your time to learn about the bike. As for PCIII (Power Command) you can down load the map on their website to match with your set up. Remember this is a VFR not an Aprilia, CBR or Ninja......So get to know her, she will bring you many miles of happiness
