    hmm, I started to type 'I can't believe they did that' but that would have been a lie. I kind of like the pi tread pattern, though. Wonder if it makes one iota of difference. I wouldn't mind spooning a set on to give them a try but I expect they'll but a far cry from my meager price range.

    what an aweful idea. They should just give everyone a ruler with the tire and instruct them to stand in the corner and measure their pee-pees - would be a more direct route to the intended use(user) and wouldn't result in lowsides measuring via the tire.

    I don't know what bothers me more; the fact that it is a juvenile fad-related idea (my POV), or the fact that it will probably do well in different market segments.

    But then again, it could be fun to compare precision cornering;

    "I ground off the elephant's left testicle without touching the right testicle", etc.

    Does seem a bit like handing a loaded gun to a five year-old, doesn't it? :crazy:

    Stupidity. I can see it now, lawsuits arising from people pushing themselves past their ability limit, then suing Metzeler or a distributor for providing a tyre that taunts them if they don't take the edge off...

    I loved my M3's last year. Only got 3200 miles out of the rear :(... Too muck highway commuting to work of that tire i guess. My FZ1 just ate it up. Might of had some low air issues as when. But as far as the grip it was fantastic, best rubber I ever had on the bike. As far as these M5's, they might be great rubber, I aggree with Toe on that part. But the marking system is just crazy. On the bright side, may be some nice part bikes at the bone yard.

    I saw this on another Forum and assumed it was a joke.
    I have quite a bit of clean rubber on the sides of the tires on both of my bikes and never feel that it means anything. I don't need to prove anything to anyone. Except maybe that part about the ruler. Just bring a yard stick!

    This new tire is a good idea. I'm glad to see one of the tire makers is in touch with the motorcycle community.

    would be a nice way to maybe get a decrease in your insurance quotes if you bring them in a tire and it only has wear down to 2 or 2.5. my cb750 had almost all of the tread past that. of course i still had it up to top speed quite a bit.

    And if they are well-received, we could have motorcycles that goad you on to constantly go faster...maybe the speedo could read out something like "only 105mph, you are CHICKEN!" Or maybe a scuba regulator that says "come on, 5 minutes of air left...go deeper!" Perhaps a gun that belittles the user in firing it more? I think they are on to something!!
