Hello all, New member in GA shopping now for my first VFR. I'm looking at Gen 6's to replace my V-Strom 1000. It just feels like time to change. I appreciate all the great info I've gotten while lurking on this forum. A question: I'm considering a 2004 and a 2006, both in excellent condition with similar mileage. I know that the way the V-tec kicks in and out was revised in 06 and I'm wondering there's a noticeable difference when riding? Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the madness................ There is no difference. Beside the marker are clear other then Vtech........
Thanks - I thought I'd hear that. The two bikes are 2 hours away in different directions. I know which one to check out first.
Let me know if you get one. I'm down in Columbus, and there are 2 other 6g owners I know in Atlanta. You won't regret either one- though I think there was a factory upgrade done to the regulator/rectifyer circa 06. If you are considering the earlier bike look into a VFRness
Good to know there are some others around. I'm in Newnan, GA - have ridden to and thru Columbus a number of times. I should have one by early April at the latest - sooner if I find a buyer for my V-Strom before then. I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for the reply - would love to have some other vfr folks to ride with once I get mine.
Comeon over and I will show you some of my roads, Welcome to this den of insanity and madness. ToeCutter is a hooker, Scubalong is a slut, Greasmonkey....I just don't know yet. But they are all like brothers. Love to hate them and hate to love them. But getting back to the bikes, all things being otherwise equal, I would get the 06. A bike that is two years newer for the same price and same mileage.
Thanks Randy - good point. The bikes aren't the same price but there's not much difference for 2 years. The 06 is Pearl White which you seem to be familiar with. It's about 2 hours away and hopefully I'll get over there in the next two weeks to check it out. BC is on my bucket list. If my kids quit moving home I'll be there some day soon. By the way I work with a bunch of Canadians and have gotten used to most of their habits (beer, hockey, more beer, repeat...) but they've got a new one going. They're tutoring a woman who has a local southern, country cookin' restaraunt near our office on how to make something called poutine. I haven't gone with them to sample her progress yet but it must be good because they all come back fatter everytime!! Thanks again, Rick
After my son went to Australia and came back home, I learned to change the locks. You are learning Eh! That's Quebec. They are only Canadian when they want the rest of our tax dollars. BTW. If you come out here give me a shout. I will re-direct you around Chilliwack which stinks of cow shit 70% of the time, and rotten decaying Brussel Sprouts the remainder
