Hello kids, I've been an excited owner of a 2000 VFR800 for about a week now. I will already easily say that of my years of riding, this is most definitely the best bike I've ever ridden for my taste. Hope to enjoy many more years of it.

Just a quick run down of what my bike has installed:
    Corbin Smuggler seat
    Vance & Hines S4 stainless slip-on
    Extreme Gravity double bubble windscreen
RK x-ring chain (installed yesterday after the chain broke 2 miles from home)
K&N filter (installed yesterday before the chain broke 2 miles from home)
Dunlop D220 tires front & rear
Helibars delivered at my house today - not yet installed
    :blah:
    I'll stop now!

Welcome Rainy! Did the broken chain damage anything? I can remember the chain from my ole Suzuki quadsport breaking and knocking a hole in the engine case in the process! Time to break out the welder...

Just started riding my '99 this week also after buying it two months ago.
It's still cold here in MA. I rode in to work this morning, it was 32.
My bike is just like yours with the V&H slip-on, Heli-bars and double bubble.
I have the Sargent seat though. But I agree, what a fantastic bike.
I'm wondering if the Vance & Hines slip-ons are on the quiet side? My SV-650 with a Two Brothers slip on was quite a bit louder. Maybe not louder just more bass...

    A couple of replies...

The only thing the chain broke is the metal cover over the front sprocket. It isn't anything major, and I doubt I will replace it, it just sucks that it happened at all. I was back up and running by that evening. As for the bike, it is a yellow 2000 model. The Vance and Hines is on the quiet side. I'm glad since I was looking for a long day touring bik, and more noise equals more fatigue. For what I want to do, everything about the bike seems just right.
