Hello all! This looks to be a fantastic site and resource. Some awsome bikes around here. I am going to be starting a build here shortly, and will without a doubt be looking for some help and inspiration. I will be picking up my project bike this weekend will post when I get it home.
    Thanks,

Welcome aboard! What a teaser post, how about some details about your soon to be project bike (year, mileage, condition, etc?) There are definately some good people around these boards who can help you along the way. Don't forget we'll need lots of pics once available.

    So here we go!

So for the last year or so I have been building small cc cafe racers on a differant forum, here are 2 little Hondas I built, well one is a wana be! [IMG] [IMG]
Now I am ready for a bigger bike build. Just picked up a 1985 vf500 in rooooouuuuuugh shap! But it aparently ran very well, before it sat for to long. So I am going to try to make a ns500 inspiered bike. Full fairing and vf1000r comstars. I know it is going to take a lot of differant parts to make it all work, but luckly there is a local salvage yard with a lot of stuff I can "try before I buy". SO here is the bike and the rear comstar I was able to get. I STILL NEED A FRONT!!!!! ANYONE!!!! My first question is can these air ride forks be rebuilt with any solid perfrmance or are there some mods to bring them up to snuff? Matt I think I watched your you tube vids a few times when deciding if this was the bike to get. Your bike sold me. Ok here is the bike [IMG] Man these wheels are beautifull!! Have it siting in my living room to look at it. [IMG]

It sounds like a cool project. Your previous rebuilds look great. I have an R, but no spare front wheel. I'll let you know if I come across one. Please keep us up to date with your progress.

DMr yes, DD no. Dave Dodge does not recommend an oiling kit for the VF500F.

So its been a little slow going, got the motor in, hurricane 600 clipons came in, got a nissin cluctch master cylinder, new grips, and front wheel came in. Crunched the numbers and it is waaaaay easier and cheaper to modify a vf1000r swing arm to fit a 500 frame than to mod a 1000r wheel, cush and caliper carrier to fit a 500. Here are some pics of it all.

Was able to make the 1000r swing arm fit prety easy, all thats left is to get a differant bearing for the left pivot bolt. Front master cylinder came in and I trimed and painted the stock front fender to be a little mor nr500 like.

If I could ask, could you please go into a bit more detail on the steps involved in fitting the kR swingarm? Also, what are the dimensional differences btwn the VF500F and kR swingarms? Thx!
