IMG_2012.jpg Hello VFR world! I'm new to motorcycle riding and I recently bought a nearly pristine '94 VFR750, my first bike. Unfortunately, it was recently wrecked by someone else and is in need of some repair. The damage mostly consists of broken fairings and some bent tubes. I really want to bring it back to the excellent condition it was in before, but I'm discovering that finding fairings and parts isn't easy and I'm a bit discouraged. I'm looking forward to gaining insight from the more experienced VFR owners out there as I work through the process of restoration.

Welcome aboard the VFRWORLD ship. Is your '94 road worthy, and in need of cosmetic repair? Or does it need repair in order to be road worthy?

    We love to see photos!

Welcome to the MadHouse :welcome:- and I am very sorry to hear about the wreck. Hopefully no one was hurt.

As for restoring the bike, I do not wish to be the bearer of bad news but I think you need to take stock before deciding whether or not to repair the bike - even if it used to be your personal pride and joy.

Even in perfect condition - the fact remains your bike was made something like 23 years ago and getting most parts (especially fairing parts) will be problematic and probably costly.

Your mention of "bent tubes" also sets off warning bells - as that usually means the bike has seen serious impact damage and may now be structurally unsafe - so you probably should get it evaluated by a mechanic before expending any funds on repairs/parts.

Generally for mainstream production bikes with significant frame damage, you will find the time, hassle and cost of repairs may far exceed the eventual value of the repaired bike. Even a wrecked RVF750 may not be worth repairing!

Hit the internet for prices for an equivalent bike (or even a donor parts bike) as buying a straight replacement may be the cheapest and quickest way to get back riding a V4.

Craigslist, eBay, Gumtree and breakers yards are now the most likely source of parts for your bike - but if you are looking for complete fairings they rarely come all in one place. Whilst there are Chinese fairing kits out there for many VFRs, they are no match for the OEM quality panels in terms of materials, colour or fit. If the damage to your bike is largely cosmetic, then you should also consider selling off any serviceable parts and using the cash for a newer bike,

    Take care

Thankfully, injuries were limited to ripped clothes. I should have specified that I meant that one of the fairing mounts bent, not any part of the structure. There is no damage to anything important except the rear brake pedal bent a bit and the throttle and front brake lever suffered minor road rash. Otherwise, it's just damaged fairings on the right side of the bike. If I can find those, I should be able to make it look new. I'm just being a baby because I won't be able to ride it as much this summer as I hoped!
