Hello all About 3 weeks ago I picked up a 2004. It sits next to my 2005 Ducati S4R and 2005 GasGas FSE450. The bike came with bar risers, Remus exhaust, carbon rear hugger, some fender eliminator, ZG screen, and Pazzo levers. Not my pics because all I have is a cell phone, but the bike looks the same except I removed all 'dragon' stickers and added gps mount The Holy Threesome (and their messy stable) I want saddle bags and Givi is the way I'm going to go, but I'm curious if anyone has mounted carriers with these pipes? Bought with 8890 miles. This is my 2nd Interceptor. 18 years ago in HS I owned an 85 VF500F. I bought it for $600.
Welcome to the site. If you are going soft bags, you will likely need some sort of cage to keep them off the pipes. Stock pipes have the shield that protect the bags but I think the aftermarket wall cause andy soft bags to melt. I love your tail lights. Any insight as to where they came from?
Thanks! I have no idea about anything on the bike since the previous owner bought it just as it sits.No stock parts of course. He got it August of last year and put 1000 miles on it, putting it up for sale in Jan....and keeping his mid 80's Maxim. Can't explain it! I really do like the taillights though. Wish I knew something about them. As for bags, I like the price of soft bags, but the security and the fact that hard bags are waterproof is the kicker for me. I'm concerned about ordering the mounts though since I have no idea what the pipes are or the tail kit. The quick detaching mounts are what interest me most because the bags would only be used a couple times a year. Looking forward to hammering out miles this summer on something slightly more comfy than the Duc!
What you've got there is the the Remus Revolution slip-on in SS black. I havn't looked into it but I gotta think that you can get quick release hard bag mounts for those, since they are a short can design and aren't obstructive. If not, I'm sure you could gets the mounts for a 2 bros. M2 as they are vertually identical in size. I should add that in just looking at the tail kit, it doesn't look like it will present a problem. Not positive however. VFR 800 Revolution Slip On - RemusUSA - Official distributor for Remus Exhaust
The cans are actually carbon fiber but otherwise look similar to the Revolution. Got a nail in the rear tire after work Tuesday night. New one on order but riding the Duc for now. Waaaay different beast
You think if you were to ask the previous owner, he might tell you who he purchased the bike from? Or is that not an attainable request?
Yeah I can try to dig up his email again to see if he knows the guy. It was an out of state purchase from Florida but I have no idea if it was an Ebay, cycle trader, or dealer purchase. I'll look into it. I didn't see any identifying marks on the tail section when I looked the other day but I'm quite curious. Ordering up a Pilot Road 2 for the rear but I'm going to try to plug the current tire anyway.
