Hi all! New to the forum. From Australia.
Just got a 2010 vfr1200 a few weeks back. Loving the bike and the torque.

Had a vfr800 for 8 years and moved to this.

I had a little drop while parked on a bad angle and fell to the right. Don't ask how I feel about dropping it...

Considering fixing up myself instead of going through insurance repair and paying excess and higher premium.

I am looking for parts shipped to AU. Are partzilla are they cheapest?
Probably got about $650 of parts. Might get a puig screen as well. Find the stock too short. I'm 6ft 4.

Also, do you think it's possible to touchup thr alternator cover instead of replacing it??

Welcome! Sorry to hear about little mishap. You could always think of the damage as character scars.

Most cast aluminum engine covers can be repaired pretty easily. Looks like your Alt cover just has some minor scratches. You could sand it down & hit it with some paint. Or any good powder coating shop should be able to fix it up good as new.

Thanks. Yeah probably thinking to lightly sand and touch up to save the money for mods. If I was to take the a shop and remove to powder coat I might as well replace with new. It is $183US for the cover new.

To do above, I Would have to drain coolant /oil and then get through he Threebond seal to remove. Labour cost and powder coat in Australia, it'll br cheaper to go new.

rather try a touch up first!!

I hear ya. You can always leave as is. Then as funds allow replace with aftermarket unit with a slider built in. Or a billet cover.

I go to the local body shop paint supplier and have them match it. Place I use has a device to scan the paint to get a solid match. Some can even put it in a spray can for you. I just did the same thing a week or so ago on the trip I'm on. Though I didn't scrap any body paint just engine covers also. So I'll fix it when I get home.

I have a left side fairing that I would sell you for $100. It's in excellent condition. Only issue is one of the tabs on the inside (the little plastic clip/nub) is missing where it meets the grey abs stuff underneath. Mounts up fine.
