Been looking to get a new bike all summer and have read many wonderful things about VFR's. Most of my friends that have bikes ride cruisers and I just couldn't find any I was interested in. I drive a fast car on the track and the thought of anything other than a sporty ride didn't thrill me. Seems like the VFR was a good fit for an all-around bike to have a good time on, take a few road trips and maybe a track day here and there. Anyway I took my first 100 mile ride over the weekend and all I can say is WOW! What a wonderful machine!

I do think I'm going to look into the Heli bar risers since I am a long torso/armed guy (6'2"). My wrist were a little sore after the ride. A throttle lock would have been nice to give my throttle hand a break every once in a while. (Suggestions?) Also a new seat would be nice. The stock seat was decent but I think a Sargent seat looks like the way to go. Maybe some better grips as well (Suggestions?)

Here is a picture of the bike. It is an 01 with 10,000 miles on it. A tiny chip in the paint on the tank and a few very small scratches on the lower right fairing. Very clean to say the least.

Anyone in Utah with a VFR?

Hi t-dog and welcome to the group. I just put about 200 miles on my 93 yeaterday. Nice looking bike there. How loud is that Micron? I have a D&D and at idle it is a bit louder than stock but onthe fly I think it is quieter.

I really don't have anything to gauge it against but I don't find it too loud. I've never heard the stock pipe so it's hard to say. I hear more of the sweet gear driven cams than the exhaust  I like the sound and will probably put the stock pipe back on just to see what the sound level difference is and to see if there is a power difference as well. ANyone out there that can tell me the power difference between the stock pipe and the Micron on my bike?

t-dog, I ride a 98 with helibars and sargent seat and also a givi windshield. if you do get the helis, you'll probably want a taller screen. I'm 6'1" and with the stock screen and the helis I get a lot of helmet buffeting, but with the givi, none. As for grips, go for pro-grip gel grips. Cheap and good. For seat, sargent is the most popular around here, but there are a few corbin fans. I have a sargent myself and I can ride through a tank of gas without being too uncomfortable. I also have a slip on, but mine is a 2bros, a K&N air filter and a power commander II. Biggest diff with the slipon and PCII is that my front tire has less traction and is lighter. ;) Also, back tire life seems to have decreased some. I ride continental road attacks, and the back is just over 3000 and is about ready for a change. The front may last another 1-2k.

Welcome!! I am located in Utah also, Davis County, where are you? I have an 06 black, love it! I came from a cruiser back to the VFR I had a VTX 1300 cruiser, nice bike but lacking in the fun dept. when the banker says I can have 2 bikes I will get a 1800 neo to go with the VFR.
Throttle lock- get the Vista Cruise, it is easy to mount looks decent (really cant tell it does not belong there) and it is cheap 25 bucks at Honda of Salt Lake.
    Well welcome again!!

I've been thinking of taking a ride through the Alpine loop, especially with the sweet fall colors. It's rained everyday for a week plus I've been busy at work so no luck getting up there so far. Now that it's getting really cold in the evening I will need to look at the weekends for a ride. This weekend would be nice but I have a car race at Miller Motorsports Park so I'll try for next weekend. There's never enough time to ride is there......

Throttlemeister for cruise control. I have heli-bars and love them. Makes for the perfect riding position. Mine has a Corbin seat that I love, but makes it hard to come off the seat when riding hard in the twisties. All of my buddies ride cruisers/ mainly Harleys and I just don't see the fun in riding around town on the weekends and not getting anywhere. I do like it when they hammer on it, and I just let them go for a bit and them blow their doors off. Makes me grin ear to ear!!! I use mine as a my main form of transportation and have put 5000 miles on since the beginning of July!!! I LOVE MY VFR!!!

Another Utah VFR here. Although I'm a bit south from you guys in Carbon County. I'm pretty tired of the rain this week.

Pearl White '06 for me. The first thing I changed was the grips, I went with the progrip gels, the 724's in red. http://www.progrip.com/default.asp?tip=3&ite=gri#top

Their just a touch larger that stock grips and a lot more comfortable.
