Hello VFR World, new guy here who is computer illiterate. My first love is dirt bikes which I have been doing for 36 years. I bought a 04 VFR new in the crate two months ago. I learned a long time ago to listen to knowledgeable people and learn from them. Even though I have ridden all my life on dirt, I want to learn to ride on the street safe, smart, and fun. That is why I am here, to learn from the best and use with in my abilities. I use that formula off road and while I'm not always the fastest, I have a grin just as big.

Gettin' dirty is far and away the best way to learn.

I am checking into that now,but I would like to do a little research on the different schools. I am also looking for some advice from those who have been to one or more.

welcome to the site. i ride both ways myself. glad out have you here. as far as schools go, i just started on a low hp bike on the street for a year or so then gradually moved up to the vfr. the street is a bit nerve wracking as I feel like they are always out to get me.... you get used to it, though....

Can't speak for other riding schools, but I learned enough from MSF to make it worthwhile. Emergency braking, swerving, lane control, etc were all covered in the practical portion and they've taken good care of me so far.

Also remembering to scan ahead and watch driver's patterns to anticipate trouble... I saw a biker on an R1 go end over end today and he could have avoided it by leaving more braking room and braking with both front and rear brakes. Reminded me to ride even safer than normal.

    Keep the rubber side down.
