    Hi,

i purchased a GIVI monokey 55liter top case for my 2013 vfr. I installed it about a week ago, and noticed it is very hard to close. its impossible to close with one hand, (im 5'9 168lbs). the only way i can close it is with one hand pushing down and another hand pushing up from the bottom.

during installation, everything went smooth with no stress on the mounting points. everything lined up perfectly so no tweaking happened. in fact, i noticed this problem before i even mounted it, but figured it just had to wear in.

i called revzilla which is where i purchased it from. they told me to call givi because otherwise they cant help.

i called givi, and they basically told me to pound sand since its normal. they said it needed to wear (which they said can take up to a month). they also said that much force is normal since it needs to be water tight. i told them i had the case closed for about 2 weeks now hoping it would wear in, but it has not gotten at all better, so another 2 weeks wont make much of a difference.

does anyone else have a givi product and noticed similar problems?

I've got the 55L top case and only a few times did I have problems closing the lid, but that was because the internal strap had got caught between the two halves or my backpack strap did. Maybe a few times did I have to make the closure with a deliberate press, but for the most part no real issues. One things for sure the two halves seal pretty good.

I am assuming you mean the Givi E55, I've had one for over a year.

The trick to closing them (as described in the manual) is to press down on the top whilst pushing the "Maxia 3" logo in.

    Hope this helps
