Hello all and thank you in advance for any insights.

Longtime reader, firsttime poster here and I appreciate all I've learned over the years.

I fear I might need new front forks for my trusty '07.

My 2007 RWB VFR has torn through yet another fork seal and the reason appears to be a burr (kind of a rough scar in the polished silver tube) on the fork itself that breaks even the heavy-duty seal when it is compressed.

A mechanic here in Salt Lake tells me I'll need new front forks. Can that be true? Is there no way to just buff that rough bit out?

The bike runs like a champ, has taken me to Texas and back, Oakland and back, all over the west and to work any day it's not snowing. So I'm willing to do what's necessary. I guess my question for the group is ... what's necessary?

    Thanks for any thoughts

Get in touch with Jamie at Daugherty Motorsports. He's the pro with this stuff. I don't know if he could tell you if he could take care of you from a picture of the fork tube or if you would have to send it to him. Might be a case where you send him your forks for a valve, spring and seal upgrade, and if that tube is not serviceable he replaces that tube. If that's the case your suspension will be much improved over stock.
