I've recently modified my 99 and didn't think anything could ever top the Power Commander as my favorite modification, I was wrong. The recently completed suspension upgrade is now my favorite mode by far. I can now ride much more aggressive in and out of corners with much more feedback which makes me very happy because I still have more sport rider in me than touring rider.

I know this is pretty common knowledge to those who have already did such a modification, but those of you on the fence about doing it and have an extra $900.00 for Race Tech gold valves and .95 springs with a Penske rear, it's well worth the investment...

I'm more on the touring side of the fence, but I agree, a high quality aftermarket suspension is the best mod out there.

Rail that BIAAATCH RW,,, put RVFR in his place!!! Just kidding. Great combination, now if I could just convince my wife that a new suspension is more important than the kids wardrobe and eating....:attention:

I'm wanting to try the track lately...with these mods how do you think the VFR would be as a track tool?

It would be O.K. , but a 600 would work a little better at the track...

Found the site, thanks. Which model did you or anyone else reading this go for? they have 3 models, ranging from $600-$1170.

Suspension is always my first mod on any bike - after brakes of course. I like the Penske shock for what I do with my VFR.

Well Done and a wise chose.

After your wallet gets recovered from the load of cash that you drop into suspension up-grades, try putting on some new steel braided brake lines and new pads. With your suspension beefed, a new brake mod will absolutly astound you. The up-graded brakes will be perfect harmious relation to your new suspension.

The guy who did my suspension work's all the AMA races and gave me a smoking deal. He only charged me $1138.00 total with labor included and no tax for the Penske 8700 series rear with Race Tech gold valves and .95 springs, plus he mounted my tires, still can't beleive he did all that work for $120.00 labor, he said I caught him at a weak moment...

Seems like every VFR I see has an aftermarket pipe. Yet when all's said and done the pipe is almost 100% cosmetic. If the pipe gives any performance enhancement at all, it's way out at the edges where few riders ever go anyway. People buy them for looks and sound, and because it makes them feel fast. Sheesh, take the dosh you'd spend on a pipe, and put it towards a suspension instead. It's a lot easier to come up with $900 for suspension when you didn't just spend $500 on a pipe. And if fast is what you want the suspension will do a whole lot more to get you there, than any pipe will.

Buying a good suspension is the closest thing to being able to buy extra skill.

Who thinks a pipe gives engine performance? aftermarket exhaust shaves weight, looks cool and makes the bike sound WAY better. Totally worthwhile mod IMO.

Delinking a 5g looks like a pretty intimidating job for me, even if I delinked the brakes, wouldn't I still need to buy the steel braided lines for braking improvement?
