What do you guys do when installing a new chain and it comes with all that white grease on it?

Do you clean it all off first or install it as is?

I ride 200 miles with factory grease. Then lube after that when needed.

I wipe it down. Grease on the outside of the side plates does nothing but collect dirt.

Install ride spray down after first tank then maint from then on with spray every 500 ish.

Its been a while since I changed. I may have wiped down the side plats but nothing serious. Mostly just to pickup the sloppy bits.
