Hey there, ive just got my grubby mitts on a 1998 Interceptor Fi. ive jumped up from a Hornet 600 which was very flickable. ive found a Jack up spacer which fits on the rear shocker, supposedely this spacer enables quicker turning from the bike and raise's the back end by about 11mm. Wot does anybody know about this method, good or bad points appreciated? Cheer's guys.
Welcome to VFRWorld. The 98 belongs to the 5th generation of VFRs and is a favorite around here(as I own a 5th gen myself, don't let anyone tell you different). check out the individual forums such as mechanical and modifications for the info you seek.
I could tell ya different, but you're to stubborn to know any better.. LOL welcome. good to see you made good jump.
Welcome to the 5th gen VFR world. '98? I've lost count how many '98s are around here, myself included. Just a general suspension basic - if you raise the rear the steering gets guicker. MD
Congrats, and welcome. Don't tell anybody, but I like all of the Gens... If it was me, I would put the rear spring preload adjuster at max and ride a few smooth corners just to see how much difference the rear ride height made before I went through all the work of adding the spacer. And since I tend to be lazy about some things, if I liked the difference with the back raised up, I'd set the rear sag about where it should be and see if the fork tubes could be lowered a bit, if possible, without causing any clearance issues.
