Picked up vf750df 1985, guy was and idiot and messed up some wiring, don't know anything with these bikes. Trying to hook up back blinkers, front ones work plugged in, checked the male connector peace attached to the main harness, the female one is gone and I don't know what to do from here. Also the gage cluster was removed and gone

Hi Kashton - and Welcome to the Madhouse:Welcome:.

When you get time please visit the Introductions forum and tell the rest of the folks on here a bit about your VFR and your riding history. The folks on here like photos - and in this case will really help people scattered across the planet to offer advice with the specific problem(s) you are endeavouring to resolve. It is easy just click the "Upload a file" link and follow the prompts to select and upload images from your computer, and use "More options" to choose how the images are displayed.

Obviously finding parts for any 30+ year old motorbike is going to be a serious challenge. You mention getting the indicators working - which would not be essential for off road use vehicle - so I assume you are hoping to get the motorbike past a safety inspection and then use it again on public roads. If so your best bet for indicator parts may be a breakers yard. NB if you just need connectors Honda used much the same connector on other similar vintage motorbikes.

However as you say the Instruments are also missing I have a worrying feeling that things may already be beyond economic sense, and as fast as you resolve one problem you may find others.

So first post up some photos and then before spending more moeny on the bike find a beer and settle down to make a shopping list. Yes write down every item you can already see needs to be fixed and then write down a realistic cost for those parts (assuming you can actually still get them). Then hit the web to see whether any of them are obtainable and at what price.

These V4 motorbikes are complex bits of kit which if not kept in good order can kill you or others. It is scary just how quickly the spend for replacing neglected stuff like tyres(tires) brakes, replacement chain and sprockets and plugs oil and filter services, may far exceed the cost of simply buying a better condition ready to ride motorbike.

Hence you may end up being better off just selling off the useable parts (perhaps that is what the previous owner had concluded) and then putting the money raised towards a bike which has not been owned by an "idiot".

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

If you dig around the harness you should see a combo of ORG/GRN and SB/GRN for the rear signals coming from the main harness and going towards the rear tail light area.
Orange/Green is for the left and Sky Blue/Green should be for the right. If the wiring is swapped, they won't flash. This is typical wiring color for Honda.
Basically the front has to talk to the rear through the switch housing so if they colors are swapped nothing happens. The front should have a 3rd wire for "running lights" coming from both the harness and the turn signal. The rears will only have 2 wires. Ground and Orange or Green.
For non-OEM just make sure the black wire and the Green wire go together when connecting the rear turn signals.
