need help new stator, battery, r/r, bike starts charging after 3 or 4 minutes, perfect, then after 10 minutes and hot, charge starts sliding back . Help
check your grounds...pull them off scuff off the paint/rust/whatever till you get to clean metal then reattach your ground leads... and then recheck all your connections
thanks for the advice crusty, stayed up last night til all hours unwrapping main harness, looks like many wires have been cut, spliced back together, patched. when i had the carbs off to replace thermostat, top of engine had a discoloration that i see sometimes in compartments of pool heaters when mice have set up shop. I wonder if this bike was stored in a shed and had varmints at one time. If that's the case i might be better off with a complete harness... in the repair manual under the bat. undercharging troubleshooting chart, bad ignition switch is listed as a possible item. One more thing, might just be coincidence, last night when i had her running, there was a tapping or clicking sound that could have been coming from one of the coils. since everything on the charging end is new, maybe i have a major component sucking too much juice once the bike runs? I've powered up the bike with the fan running and headlights on (bike not running) and found it uses about a volt.
