    Hey guys,
Im newer than new to the motorcycle world. Actually not even riding yet. lol
Always wanted to but I have enough expensive hobbies already (skiing, Jeeping etc.)
anyway, a friend of mine gave me his old 84 Interceptor 750. Not running, but apparently in good shape other than the carbs. SO now I will get to play! as long as I can get it on the road....

The bike has 46k (km i think) and has not been ridden since '02.

I know NOTHING about bikes or carbs, but I do all my own work on everything. Car, Jeep, House etc., so I am fairly confident that I can figure this out with a little advice and a good manual.

Any idea where I should start for the manual? I can find the parts one online but not the service manual.

    Anyway, just saying howdy!
I am up in Canada in the Toronto/Hamilton area just for reference.

    :welcome:

There are several threads here, regarding Carb rebuilding. So do an advance search & sift thru the results.
If you should decide to leave the rebuilding to people that know what they are doing, There is more then one member here that can help you.
Service Manuals seem to be something that you will have to purchase?

I would Seriously recommend a Beginners riding school / Program.

    Ride-Safe!

Welcome to the zoo lad, and before someone else tells you ... :worthless:

I'm sure there's a factory service manual in PDF format somewhere here - or perhaps on the V4hondaBBS forum. I'll poke around ...

    thanks man! thats awesome.
I have conacted Squirrelman about the carb cleaning already and will look up the detailed instructions on removing the carbs to get them to him.

I have a habit of screwing things up the first time I do something until I understand 100% how something works so this would be a job better left for someone experienced.

squirrelman and crustyrider are the carb gurus for that bike, Unless you really know your shit on carbs and have all the parts and gaskets its not worth doing them when you can enlist a helpful member to do it. Do not forget to tell whom ever cleans/rebuilds the carbs at what altitiude you live at. My carb setup on my lil 200 is way different up here at 2450ft than at 950ft where I used to live and it will be a whole jet size different from sea level.

There are whole sections dedicated to that bike, but common to fail is the R/R and since its been sitting for ever you really need to change the brake fluid as it will have water in it by now. I cant remember if it uses DOT3 or DOT4, but for safety sake do not mix and do not upgrade to the DOT4.5 or DOT5 as they are not meant to be mixed with DOT3 or DOT4. Get the Honda Common Service Manual (in the manuals section) as the Field Service Manual refers to it.

Oh and welcome to the madness!
