So I just ended up buying a like new CRF250R. I was going to go new, but decided to see what I could find used first. The previous owner said all the right stuff (original owner, no modifications, little use) and the bike shows like new. I've ridden it at a local MX track and it runs perfect. I also rode a friend's 450, but decided to go with a 250. It is amzaing how much motor these bikes have. In my younger days I raced a 125 and these new 4-strokes are so much easier to ride. They make you a much better rider than you really are.

Wow thats really nice. I used to have a rm80 when I was like 13 lol Thats my only experience on dirtbikes. The thing was brand new though and had a lot of balls! Bigger guys would try it out and accidentally stand the thing up - thinking that it wouldnt. I wish I lived somewhere i could own and use one, but I live in a condo right now surrounded by golf courses and other condos..Not really the right place lol. But congrats and have fun.

My last dirt bike was a yz465. That was a bike. It would lug down to where you could count the pulses, then rev till it hit the limiter and started shooting crows. I haven't tried one ( a four stroke) but that will always be the way a dirt bike should be. Yea I'm old. But talk of a bike making you better than you were. I even raced a few times. It was that good.

The 4-stroke MX bikes are all that and more. They have great torque and you can rev them higher than a 2-stroke. They pretty much make power everywhere. I'd love to see what your impression is once you get the chance to ride one.

    Don't forget compression braking too

It's been a long time since I've been off roading, well more than a decade, and the last off road bike I rode was a YZ465 two stroke! Way more bike than I would desire. I was really looking at the XR250 but life got in the way
