    HI Guys.
My first post. I just purchased a 92 VFR 750f. I love the bike and the power it delivers is perfect. I do want a better sound then the stock pipe delivers. I don't really want to spend $400.00 on a pipe and would like to see if anyone knows where I could find a good sounding pipe (not too loud) for maybe a couple hundred. I also changed the oil and filter yesterday with mobile one synthetic 10 W40 and the idle went from 1000 RPM to 2000 RPM after the oil change. I can't seem to get my idle right now. I have screwed with it and it seems to fluctuate on me pretty bad now and It wants to rev up and down and also dieng at times. Not sure why it is doing this and not sure what to do? Any additives I should try to use that is very good to clean the carbs maybe? I also would like to get rid of the governer, it kicks in at about 11,500. Is this easily done? Any other reccomended hop ups since my bike is completly stock and the owner used it to cruise on.
    Thanks much.
    Steve

    steve,

I dunno what during an oil change could cause your problem unless it's just a coincidence. that's weird. as far as the pipe goes, you could keep an eye out on ebay. if you dont get in too big of a hurry you may be able to find one for your price. I run an aftermarket pipe on mine, but if it hadn't been there when I got the bike, I'd probably still be running stock (and getting better mileage).

An oil change should not have any affect on the idle. Maybe your choke is on? As for the aftermarket exhaust, like reg said, keep an eye on ebay. I got a D & D can for $99 shipped. The connector pipe between the headers and the can itself is the wrong bend so I realy theink the can is for a 94 and up. go to exoticsportbikes.com. There are 3 or 4 manufacturers (BlueFlame, Laser, Micron, and I think Remus) still make that still make exhaust for the 3rd gen (1990 - 1993)bikes, I think Micron is one of them but Microns tend to be pretty loud. I put some sound clips up so you can hear a sample, but bear in mind that the clip may not be exactly what it would sound like on your bike. The clips can be found in the Modfication forumhere .

Cool guys thanks. I did check my choke and its not on unless it is stuck inside. It runs out well but the idle is bad. (UP AND DOWN) I will keep my eyes out on ebay for the pipe or go to a bike graveyard. I also always heard that synthetic oil will increse your idle speed if your bike has been run on regular oil since it has much less friction. But maybe this is not what it is. I don't think it is since the idle seems to be so bad and dies at times. I can set the idle and it will rev up and down from my set spped. Does this sound like I need to get my carbs cleaned?
    Thanks, Steve

I wonder about a vacuum leak. I may be way off base here, but it seems like I had a similar problem on a car and that's what it was. Are there any lines that might have gotten knocked off while you changed the oil? I'm trying to think, but nothing comes to mind thats close to the left panel. The carbs cleaned may help, but prob not what's causing that particular prob, but hell, who knows...

    I'll check it out.

I'll cxheck it out. I don't think I hit any lines but again like you said WHO KNOWS? Check out Ebay item #s 160001699189 and 160001700448.
I bougth them both. The guy swore to me that if I buy the headers that were on a 97 VFR would fit on my 92 VFR and I should see a considerbly HP difference. I hope the vance and hines can is a good can??

    Fixed!

I got a new rear tire on the back (DUNLOP QUALIFIER) today and had the mechanic look at the bike to see what was causing it to idle bad. He fixed it in a few minutes. Not sure what he done but thank god ITS FIXED!! STill awaiting reply about the vance and hines can and 97 headers.

I bought a Vance & Hines slip-on (doesn't include header pipe) on Ebay for my 92'. It sounds great compared to the stock pipe, plus it looks nice and is a smaller diameter. I would buy V&H again!

Very cool. When did you buy a V&H can on Ebay? I sold the one I bought on Ebay so I just thought it could be the one I sold LOL....... My user name is jsusisaliv and it was a carbon can like new. I sold it because I sold my VFR and bought a ninja ZX9. VFR's are great bikes but when it comes to speed the ZX9 caught my attention. It came with a stainless muzzy and is more my speed. Thanks for all the help.
