Been reading a lot of forums about higher mileage 500s and they all say the valves could drop at any moment past 30k I just picked up a 84 non running for 600 bucks got it in running order and everything operational cleaned out the carbs and tank and such but it has allegedly around 35 k miles so I’m just a bit concerned I’d like to do as much prevention as possible I did see there’s really no replacement parts for it like valves or springs

It's not necessarily the mileage, but of course that is a factor. Often it's valve float from extended, continuous high RPM use that the age weakened valve springs can't cope with. They sometimes couldn't cope even when new.

If ridden accordingly with brief forays into the higher RPMs, you can greatly increase the longevity.
