Hello to all, I have been looking through posts, but this is my first. I have been looking at joining the VFR community for some time now, and might get the chance in the next couple days.

    My question is:

What would be a reasonable offer to make a dealership that has a New Old Stock 2006 VFR? I know I have come across some new 07's and even a new 08 for $9k I just don't want to start off on the wrong foot with the dealership by low balling them too much. I was going to start off at $8k cash out the door. Think this good ground to start on, or should I start higher/lower?

Thanks for the tips in advance.

i bought my new/old stock 06 back in march from a dealership and offered $7500 cash. they accepted. but then the dreaded taxes, rego and all that other BS they love to tack on. it ended up costing me around $9000.
i'm thinking that since the 09 is due out some time in sept, $8000 out the door seems fairly reasonable for a soon to be 3 year old bike.

Remember There are supply in demand.........8K seem low they might laugh at you, But you never know, They might go for your offer if they are desperate or on some good stuff. I think the new one is run $13.990 Good luck:ncb:

My thoughts exactly. The one thing I have noticed is that the VFR market is not very strong in my area (northern WV). Out of the 4 dealerships I have gone to, only 2 have VFR's and all 4 said they don't sell. One of the places has a N.O.S 2002 still. The dealership I was referring to that has the N.O.S 06 is actually 3 hours south of me, and their market is even worse for a VFR. So, I am hoping to get lucky and pick up a new bike if everything goes right.

I had an 06 lined up for 8k out the door, its close to 800 under thier cost. If they want to get rid of it they will take it tho. I didnt take mine due to an engine issue when test ridden(timming tensioner was what they told me, top end was making noise). I instead bought an 08 for 9399 OTD. 8k is all I would pay.

I got my 06 in May of 07 for 9200 in bk, ny with a two year warranty, that I don't need.
Most guys or girls don't go for the VFR's. Not marketed at all. so left overs are easy to find. make sure that the dealership has a good rep. Traveling far to save a few $ is costly in the long run. If you can buy it from a previous owner. You can save THousands. I would'nt go older than 06 if you want 6th gen. I have had a great time whenever I ride mine... I also like the 5th gen bikes too.
Good luck and remember everything is negotable.

Well the dealership opened at 9am today, and got a phone call from me. The lowest they will go is $8399 plus fees and taxes. In all it would be about $9500. They would not budge on the price. Looks like I might drive to NJ to get the new 08' for $9k.

Well being upset that the dealership would not work with me, I went to Honda’s webpage and pulled up a list of all dealerships within 100 miles of me. Starting at the top (excluding the ones I went to) I started calling to see if there were any used bikes around. On my 5th call in a little dealer about 30min north of me, I found a new 07. It just so happed that they wanted to get rid of such mentioned 07, and with the right price of $7999, I was more than willing to take it off their hands. So I am the new owner of a 25th anniversary VFR.

And yes, I had to call the two dealers that would not deal with me and tell them :bootyshake2:

Congratulations on the new bike. Bias opinion, I know, but it 'sher iz purdeee'!! I've never understood why certain dealers are anal about a sell. Sometimes you gotta take a little hit to get a long time customer......even worse is when you got a buyer who WANTS something that's costing you money while it sits around.
