08 with CBR parts and a lot of excess collector weight.

So, this one has three mufflers. Interesting! This isthe poorest photochop version I've ever seen. Everyone should forget about the V5. When it comes out, it'll come out. Until Honda releases info on it, we ALL have our thumbs up our butts regarding it. There's no sense in feeding ourselves with useless information which only heightens our curiosity and stress levels.

Aw - cmon.... lets get real. The thing would have 40 lbs of exhaust hardware.

-I'll put money down on that the '09 bike is same as the '08.

This does not look Photoshopped to me in any way; there are too many details that look right about this; this looks like production Honda.

    Sorry Puma,

This one is photo shopped too..
if you look closely you can see the exhaust pipe from the sixth gen catalytic converter to the undertail muffflers. I refuse to hold my breath. when my dealer gets one I'll buy it.
Nice job though. Almost had me on that one. It is the same in MCN's Rag.
My grandfather always told me that you should believe:
    1. none of what you hear
    2. a fourth of what you read
    3. half of what you see
    4. all of what you feel (physically, not emotionally)

    Dan,
I saw a cutaway and the pipe you're referring to, I think, is not undertail mufflers, but a routing from the top of the back bank of cylinders down to the single muffler coming out of the bottom of the fairing. Exhaust gases could just as easily be traveling down as up. I seriously doubt we will see undertail mufflers again on Honda sportbikes; they are not consistent with centralizing mass. Just because there is a pipe here does not mean this is Photoshopped. I'm going to go out on a limb and stick to my guns that this is a photo of a production bike; we'll see in the future if I have to eat my words. There are too many design details that look like real Honda design elements for me to think that this is a Photoshopped mockup.

Not sure your grandfather was aware of this, but pilots are trained NOT to believe what they feel, and to trust their instruments. Your physical senses can be fooled.

    My 2ยข:

Ran into a guy today that was an ex-Yamaha exec, now works for Castrol. He stays in touch with management types with in the m/c industry. He claims the 10000cc V5 is the real deal this time and we should see it in about a month.

    Just passing along gossip.

If it is the real deal - well I'm not that excited about it. Looks heavier than a 6th gen, and splits the line between an FJR1300 and the current 6th gen. Its another push toward the touring end of the scale, instead of the sporting end. The V5 would definately be interesting, but I still dont get it since MotoGp is now V4's.

Cant get excited about it - will be keeping the 5th gen.

    I was just thinking...

Seeing as though Honda is celebrating its 60 years and seeing as though we've seen V5 patents and "2 part chassis" patents floating around, maybe there is something in the wings...

Maybe they are planning a "limited release" model similar to what they did with the NR 750? To us ordinary plebs that means preparing ourselves for the disappointment of the "same old same old" with "bold new graphics".

For the richer ones, it's an excuse to break out the cheque book!

Anyway, we'll all find out soon enough... well, "soon", maybe not "soon enough" for some of us...

(Of course, this is all pure speculation, just a thought I wanted to share to hear other people's opinions of...)

Well, there may well be two VFRs...a sport version and the GT version for touring shown here. My guess is that this bike is meant to be a celebration of Honda's technology to celebrate it's 60th birthday, and they are pulling the stops out on the V5 VFR to serve as a showcase of their capabilities (which we all know are considerable). Multi-V's have always been regarded by Honda as the pinnacle of their motorcycle engine design.

Regarding weight, the only thing that is meaningful in this regard is hard data.
