    Hello gang.
My friend and I going to SC in October for one week of some riding fun.
I never trailer bike before and need your advice on the trailer for two bikes.
U-Hall has some 5X8 and up for rent open and some closed-up units too.
Would 2 biked fit in those and what else I need to get to get bikes secure in the trailer.
Is it better to rent from some bike enthusiast in South Florida instead?
    Any ideas would help.
    Gino

My main concern in using a Uhaul trailer would be ensuring that the bike doesn't fly around the trailer, and that I don't destroy the suspension in the process. I've used the Uhaul open trailer that has a center "notch" for towing a bike. U-Haul: Equipment specs (Its how mine came home.) I would consider an investment in some front wheel chocks, but I don't know how you would lock them down without putting holes in the trailer.

Gino - I know that Dino71 on this forum just towed a couple of bikes several hundred miles (Jersey to Carolina, I think). I'm not sure of the details on what or how he did, but he did say there were no problems. Maybe you can send him a PM and see if he has any insight.

You may want to really check in to those U-Haul trailers first. All the ones I've seen or friends have used have been over sprung. The trailers are stiffly sprung shake the shit out of what ever is on them. First off what's going to be the total weight of the bikes on the trailer? You really want the trailer close, but over, of what the bikes weigh. There are other enclosed trailers that do better by other rental shops. You can get two bikes in most small enclosed trailers.

To fasten to the trailer you need two motorcycle straps. One one each handle bar going to the floor angled outward. No straps tried around the back/seat. Wood floors you can take 2"x6" board or larger with big I-hooks in them and nail to the floor. Leaves no real damage after you remove. You can make a wheel stop out of wood and attach to 2x6. Or just butt tire against trailer wall. Or just drill pilot hole and screw in to the floor. Use the "lag" type. You can get creative with the wood as a base.

They also make steel wheel holders with hooks that the front tires set on also out there some where. I've seen them for sale. If you can find any Fla rental places, call them and see what they offer. Friends of mine fly to different places and rent bikes. Good luck.

    Motorcycle Stand / Wheel Chock

Use these ^^^^ & you can safely put a bike in any trailer they will fit in. Strap the front down to the eyelets on the chock. Then, run a strap from each rear passenger peg to the trailer itself. Now you have side to side X2 & the chock is holding the bike upright.

Where are you located? There is a place in NJ that rents trailers. I'm sure there are places in other states as well.

    KC-10 FE out...
