    hello fellow interceptor riders.
does anybody know what a good set of tires would be for my 84 vf750f? i loathe the tires i have now! i feel as though i cant trust them in corners as they are strictly hard street tires. sure, they will last 40,000 miles, but if i cant trust them in curves, then i will never reach that mark! stock size says 130/80-18 for the rear, but the guy who owned the bike before has 140/80-18's on now. i like the wider tire, but it is hard as hell with not much traction on the sides. i am looking for something alot softer with more grip on the road. the tire now is a dunlop. im not that experienced with bikes so if anyone can fill me in on good sticky tire that i can believe in on the corners, that would really boost my confidence!
    thanks!

They could just be old. What is the Date code? If it is over 5 yrs old, time to replace due to rubber hardening with age. What model Dunlop do you have on them now?

I have a VFR 750 FK and have Pirelli Diablos - I think they're fantastic - not only are they sticky but they really sharpened the steering up - the only thing is that they look like they're too small - due to the small, by today's standards, rim sizes. But because of their profile it hasn't reduced the ground clearance.

I agree, sounds like older tyres, Dunlop Qualifiiers for the streets have been awsome for me, & I like to push the edge.

I also never owned a tyre past 5000 miles (usally don't last more than 1500-2000 ) b-4 replacing them, with the exception of on a trip, but I change them out when I get back.

I also had the same (used to) bike but removed the chain gard & center stand (for more clearance) & squeezed on a 150/60 x 18 & changed my fork height ( to keep the stock rake) & it handled perfect on the road & track.

only other way to go is changing out with another compatable rims (preferably 17's) & removing the center stand & chain gaurd but can be $$$$.

    My .02 cents

Best bet would be going with CBR F2 wheels. one member on here sells the conversion kits needed for this. then you can use the same sticky rubber that the supersport bikes use.

I put Pirelli Sport Demons on my 86 about 3 weeks ago and love um. Great in the dry weather and got caught in the rain Friday evening. Very impressed. The Chicken strips are already gone on the rear. I have total confidence in them.
