    Hi guys -

Last fall my bike was hit while parked on the street and it bent the side stand all to hell.

When installing a new one I noticed that the actual stand wasnt nesting 100% snug in the recess where it bolts in (it slides laterally between the holes).

Is there a washer or space piece that I might've missed? I'll try to add pictures when I can get over to the garage where it's parked. The steel tabs might've been bent a little too, but I don't know for sure.

In the meantime, anyone who has done a side stand replacement and can offer help is welcome to advise. Thank you!

I don't quite know the answer you're looking for since I don't see what you're seeing. That said, here's the best solution for your problem.

Since this is in the 5th Gen section, I'm assuming your bike is a 98-01. Follow the choices to your year & model, then look at the section titled "STAND". Look at the parts fiche & then look at your bike. The bike should have the same number of parts the parts fiche pic does.

    KC-10 FE out...

All the sidestands I've seen have a little play in them, including the 5th gen's, so they will 'flex' in & out a little on the mount.

That's encouraging. I was wondering if the tabs themselves had gotten bent away from each other a little and was debating hammering on one to move them closer together and have the stand fit more snugly.

I just checked my '99 and it has 1/2"-3/4" movement in it.
