Hello All! Having problems with the 2000 Maxima. Tried to start it Tuesday morning and it would not. Took the bike to work. Got home and teared into it. Key on fuel pump would run and kick off. Crank car and pump would run. Checked cam sensor and crank sensor below the crankshaft and the ohms were correct according to my haynes manual. Checked spark, good. Removed the air cleaner and sprayed carb cleaner into throttle body, fired right up and then died. I went and purchased a fuel pump. Fuel filter was replaced last year so did not get one. Put fuel pump in, and the car fired right up. I let the car run for 10 minutes or so while I put tools away and shut it off. Started it again and it ran fine, even with giving it throttle. Buttoned it up and went inside. The next morning, the car would NOT start. Can hear fuel pump running. Spray carb cleaner into throttle body, started right up again and then died. HELP! Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Lance.

Have you checked the injectors? You might have a faulty one, but that wouldn't really explain the car not starting at all.
Is the fuel getting to the fuel rails?
    Have you checked the TPS?
Is the voltage to the MAF correct?
Is your car throwing any codes?

Just some other things to check, just to be sure that nearly everything is working fine.

Uhhhh, I just hate intermittent electrical shite!

You need to get some codes to have any idea where to begin on that puppy. It could be a number of things inhibiting the start.

Thanks guys! I will check this all out when I get home. Would bad sensors not allow the car to fire up when I shot carb cleaner directly into the throttle body? When I do this, the car fires and runs instantly off carb cleaner. It's almost like its not getting fuel. I'm gonna check tonight and make sure I have fuel pressure before I do anything else. Thanks again, Lance

Leave the fuel pressure gauge overnight. Make sure you're not loosing pressure.
