Hey guys , going to check out a 2002 with 25000 mile, sargent seat, staintune cans, power commander . My question is he did say it needed a new chain and of course I'll replace the sprockets , is there a combination that every one does , less teeth on the counter or both ? Any help would be great

I think it really depends on your riding style...

I have the prior model, so take this with a grain of salt, but my recollection from reading here is that folks looking for a little more get up and go "seem" to have better results by going 2 up in the rear and leaving the front alone. Of course, there are all different combinations. This is also often done to remove some of the jerkiness at parking lot speeds. However, that being said, you mentioned the bike has a PC. With a decent map/tune, you'd probably eliminate any of the low speed issues (again, from what I've read).

Bikes are often about customization anyway. If you buy her, give it a few days to check the posts here, research and get feedback and then make a choice on what you want to do with sprockets.

    Good luck!

.....just hope he didn't mean a new cam chain or cam chain tensioner.

At 25k, the drive chain is normally due for replacement, but it's difficult to get a new, quality chain and sprockets for less than about $160

I think he wants to know about the whole 520 530 thing. I do too.
