30k is nothing at all a for a properly maintained VFR. Those V4 motors were built to last. Seen quite a few with over 100k. I paid $4600 for my '98 with 24K miles on it. If the bike is in good condition and serviced regularly as you say, I would think it might be worth $2900. I would still offer him a few hundred less in cash to see if he takes it.

I picked up a 91 with 53000km on it this spring. Needed a new chain and sprockets, I also replaced the R/R with a used GSXR unit. I paid 2500CDN for it. With the upgrades I have it on the road for 2750 + my labour.

    Good Luck

you can get one at your local bike shop, off ebay or wherever. doesn't really need replacing if it works. if you do have to replace it its an easy fix, takes about ten minutes and anybody can do it. when i bought mine it had the original R/R, but with a cpu-fan mounted. seems to keep it cool enough.
