I have a 2003 VFR800. The battery currently in there (and bad) is a 12V12A-BS I see there are posts with a different model number. Which one do I need, and how much do I plan on paying I called my local motorcycle shop and he mentioned the one I need is about 140 bucks!!!. I see a lot online for a lot less. What's the deal and what should I do?
Good Place to start is this recent thread: http://vfrworld.com/forums/general-vfr-discussions/21486-new-battery-price-shock.html
I bought one a couple weeks back, did a bit of research before I did. I found a lot of people that bought cheapo ones and I didn't really find much negative about them. Seems they run about $50 or $60. I ended up going with a Yuasa from BatteriesPlus. I bought the bigger YTZ14S - same size, just more giddy up. I paid $121 as I recall, including shipping. The 12S was like $105 or $110. I found people talking about vibration and that the Yuasa's were better at dealing wtih it. No idea if it's true, I just figured I have zero trouble with the bike and don't want a cheap battery to leave me stuck somewhere. Although, like I said, all the searching and I really didn't find any negative feedback on the cheaper ones. Guess it comes down to a judgement call. If you have an extra few you can spend, go for the Yuasa. If not, I really don't think you'll be disappointed by a less expensive one. I'd imagine you are paying for the Yuasa name to a certain level anyway lol
