I am in the market for an all round bike (again) and came across my old 05 ABS that I sold a couple yrs ago. It has about 5k mi more on her -11k total- and looks to be in great shape. Anyway, I'm sorta torn cuz I really wanted to upgrade to a new 1200 but really can't justify spending that kind of $ right now. -besides, my wife just wouldn't understand and I've been there done that b4. Not going down that road.....:argue: ok, so my second pick was a 2011 Kawi Z1000. I really like how the Z looks, - plus the price is about what I have to spend. Then I ran across my old friend. I've somewhat regretted selling that thing and now that it's there as an option, I could save a bit of $ and still have a fine machine. What would you do? I'm torn because of the $ savings ...but a new Z would be awesome. btw, I originally sold the V cuz I wanted to go to a power cruiser (M109R) but now my lower back has been telling me lately that I should've stayed with a sport touring (riding position) type of bike. Without telling you what the asking price is, what would you say is a fair price? Bike Details: 05 ABS 11k mi. Leo's, PCIII and some light scratches on the lft side fairing and nose.
original owner claimed it fell inside a moving truck while moving across town. Looked like it fell in the driveway to me. Scratches none the less.
If that is the only scratches, then I wouldn't worry about it. But, if you ever go to replace the plastic for cosmetic only things, then look to see how much that is and either split the difference with him or give some sort of break like that. I know I'm pretty anal about keeping my ride broken plastic free, at least the best I can. Having a bike downed today isn't as bad as it was years ago. If it looks like something you want back, or bad enough, why not. Older bikes are usually cheaper on insurance as well. It comes down to personal preference, but no matter what you ride, you are always welcome here in the nut house.
He's asking 6,300. The scratches were on it when I sold it back in 09. I bought it from the original owner like that. I like your idea of splitting the cost to replace, I'm the same way when it comes to bike detail. Then, I could always paint it ...never was too big on the scratched silver anyway. I think they were about 500 a piece to replace if I remember right. At this point I'm still on the fence. The Viffer was one of the nicest riding bikes I've owned. It just seemed to be a bit on the vanilla side. ? (I re-read this and It doesn't make a lot of sense!) I hope you get what I mean. Thanks Keager, if this is a nut house, then I am at home
