Ok so i took it out for its first ride today and i went about 4 miles and looked down to notice that the temp gauge was almost in the the red so i shut it off and felt the hoses and they seemed fine normal temp then i waited at max like 3 mins and it cooled down back to below the halfway point and started it up rode it home another 4 miles and by the time i got back home it was in the red again so i coasted into the garage and shut it off waited 2 mins this time and same thing it went back to below the half way point? i have no idea why it would heat up and cool down so fast. No white smoke out the exhaust either?

The fast up and down is normal, it will cool off pretty quickly just sittng there not running. I'd first check your coolant level, then I would make sure that it's got a thermostat installed. You might try getting a new 'stat anyway. A thermostat from a 1986-1991 Acura Integra is the same thing. Try getting a 160° as that will help too. Good luck!

if you need to ride while waiting for the new t-stat, it won't hurt anything to run without a t-stat in warmer temperatures.

Ok so update went out and stole the thermostat from my vf750 magna and it works now doesnt over heat and runs great. Looked online and found they were the same part numbers. Still gonna get a integra one and give the magna back its thermo but should work for now.
